It’s Great To Be A Michigan Wolverine For These U of M Grads Of The Class of 2021!

We had an incredible day in Ann Arbor with our Lacey and 15 of her housemates who are all graduating this Spring from the University of Michigan!  We have photographed high school seniors up on campus before but this was a first for us and we have two more groups coming up for sessions just like this one!

Meanwhile these girls and this graduating class as a whole has been through plenty with the pandemic.  Lots of uncertainty, lots of virtual classes, lots of adapting and overcoming, and as you’ll see because it comes through in these photos, they did just that.  They are all proud and resilient Wolverines and we’re especially proud to call our Lacey one of them – especially one of this crew!  This was a real treat for us to spend the day with them capturing them in their caps and gowns and their maize and blue!  A day we’ll never forget, and we have the fun highlights here for you!  GO BLUE!

We started at the Law Quad which is a very popular spot for obvious reasons – the architecture and the whole look is spectacular.

Rikki In The City – Splendid Spokesmodeling For The Class Of 2022!

Rikki in the city doesn’t rhyme, but it has a ring to it, and this session should ring out across Frameable Faces nation!!!  Hehe….  it really was fabulous.  We’re off to a darn good start with our class of 2022 crew and this was a session of firsts for us.  A couple new spots for us in particular that we really love!

As for this senior-to-be we really love her too – she’s a Bloomfield Hills Blackhawk like our kids were, and her mom Lauren is North Farmington Raider just like me and Ally were!  Rikki is a delight and she slayed the game as we say on this session in Detroit, so let’s get to the highlights!

Mashana is 50 and FABULOUS – and So Is Her Crew!

Mashana is a dynamo.  An extrovert with a huge infectious personality, she came to us with some ideas for her 50th birthday and what a time we had with her and her crew!  Or should we say her crews!  She brought the fam and she brought her girls for some BFF pics – oh and she had a massive “50” delivered to the studio for the session too which we highly recommend YOU do.  So much fun!

Kamari Kicks It Off For The Class Of 2022 Spokesmodels!

Kamari kicks it off in style in these highlights from our first high school senior spokesmodel session for the rising class of 2022!  If you know us at all you know how giddy with excitement we get around this time of year.  Yes we’re starting a little later than our pre-pandemic schedule, but the craziness of the last year has us even more ready than usual to be photographing seniors again (if that’s possible)!

Meanwhile Kamari is not a stranger to Ally’s camera – she was here when she was little for family portraits (wow has our blog come a long way since then…haha) with her parents Jahmal and Kimberly and big brother (and former Frameable senior) Jaden!

Kamari will be a senior at Mercy High School this fall and she is completely adorable just as she’s always been.  We started with just a pic or two in the studio before we headed out on location.  Many of our senior sessions include both studio and location photos… here’s a simple one on the white background.

Alexandra is BACK and She’s ONE and She’s ADORABLE!

One year sessions are so much fun – especially when it’s with a one year old who we’ve been photographing since she was born!  Alexandra was the last baby we photographed before the pandemic hit us with lockdowns and she was back for her 6 month too, so to have her back was really such a joy!

A Few Of Doug and Ally’s Recent Appearances!

We have had some wonderful opportunities lately to appear on a few different shows on the Internet as well as local TV and we thought we should gather a few of them in one place here on the blog!

Let’s start with the one Ally and I appeared together on which was on Fox 2 Detroit in a segment about how to take a great selfie for dating sites!  This one was pretty fun…

 

Next I appeared on my friend Rachel Moore’s livestream show Social Glue which airs on LinkedIn & YouTube ever week and covers all things social media with weekly news (which in the social media world can be like a month haha).

 

And last but not least here is my recent appearance on the Civic Center TV Megacast to discuss M10 Social and how businesses are adjusting and can adjust to the need for more of an online presence in the pandemic!  Give it a watch:

Valentine’s Day…….Pancakes and More at The Jagged Fork!

Hey it’s Valentine’s Day this Sunday!!!  And to celebrate we thought we would tease you with some delectable Valentine’s Day delights from our neighbor down the hall The Jagged Fork!  They were actually on the news this week on WMYD Channel 20 Detroit and they needed some photos of their yummy dishes so of course we came running!  Hehe…  Take a look!

The Crying Baby In The Window Grows Up And Has His Bar Mitzvah!

Time sure flies… 
 
So if you’ve been in the Orchard Mall you’ve undoubtedly noticed the crying baby in the window of our studio – it’s impossible not to and that photo has provided many a smile and a laugh to a passerby over the past decade-plus…

Well that little crying baby is our nephew Gabe, and Gabe hit the milestone of his Bar Mitzvah this past Fall!  Like many events that were scheduled for 2020 there were many adjustments that had to be made on the fly – in Gabe’s case a postponement and then a scaling back that may have bummed out and even broken a “lesser man”, but Gabe took it in stride and didn’t let a crappy year dim his shine!  With a little creativity and a lot of hard work it was still an event to remember.  I know we always will!

Gabe’s service was immediate family only.  BUT…. everyone was still “there” not only on zoom but in the form of cutouts like you see at sporting events!!!  They filled the sanctuary and I (Doug) grabbed this panorama with my iPhone of the scene!
 
How cool is that?  This was a surprise for Gabe – just one of many ways his parents Stacy and Jason made it special for him (cutouts by Winning Imprints)!
 
Here is the man at the bimah with the Torah!
 
After a small outdoor “tailgate” in the parking lot with a few masked and distanced family members we headed back to the house for a very small get together, with all of Gabe’s favorite foods!

Ty Didn’t Let 2020 Spoil The Celebration Of His Bar Mitzvah!

Ty is a great kid and like many youngsters he had to adapt a celebration to the times that we’re in.  2020 was a challenging year for everybody but you wouldn’t know it spending time with this dude for his bar mitzvah which took place several months ago!  This was the second time around with a mitzvah for us with this family so let’s goooo!

First let’s take a couple peaks at the session that Ally did with Ty ahead of time for some cutouts to put in the backyard for the scaled back outdoor gathering they had planned.  Ty is a multi-sport athlete so we covered all the bases (pun intended) on a great day with his mom Angela!  Let’s start with football…

Through it all – through this challenging school year we still had a fantastic “part 1” of the Class of 2021 senior pictures!  We say “part 1” because there are always a few spring seniors and we figure there may be a few more than usual this year (fingers crossed) because 2020 was……..2020. 

Generally when we post highlights of our sessions we focus on the senior but we do have family add-ons available and sometimes family members – maybe just a sib or a parent or a pet jumps in, so we thought we’d gather a handful of these and give them their own blog post!  Lots of love in these images!!!
