Twin Baby Sisters Are Twice As Nice! Meet Emma And Elena!

Twin baby sisters are such a special treat especially when they’re newborns!  Emma and Elena came to the studio with mom and dad Elyse and Erik and they were so adorable!!!  They were very easy to photograph too – they spent most of the time sleeping which is perfect for photographing newborns.  So let’s get right to the preciousness!

Twin Baby Sisters Are Twice As Nice

We’ll kick it off with this one of the two holding hands in black and white!  So connected.

Double Trouble? Double FUN! Meet Harrison and Henry!

I got a phone call from Carlos looking to set up a photo session on pretty short notice…..for his twin one month old boys!  I knew Ally would be pretty excited since we’ve had plenty of babies in the studio and plenty of twins, but no twin babies!  We had time available the following day which was exactly 30 days from Harrison and Henry’s birth so it seemed like the planets were aligning!  And what a session!  Are twin boys double trouble to photograph?  HECK NO – they’re double FUN!!!

Double Fun with Harrison and Henry!

Carlos and Gina came to the studio well prepared with some monogrammed burp cloths for the boys which we’ll get to.  In the meantime for one month old babies it’s hit or miss on how easy it will be to get them to sleep which always makes for easier posing and photographing.  So with twins this was somewhat unchartered territory!  Indeed, they were not ready to nap when they got here so we had to wait it out a bit….  a little classical music, some low light, some high heat and an hour or two of patience and we were in business!!!  We always block off two hours but allow for cushion on the back end with little babies just in case we need the extra time.  So without further adieu, let’s meet the boys!

We’ll start with the individual shots – first of Henry:

Double Fun

How great is he?

And here’s Harrison…

Double Fun

Okay how awesome is the tongue…!

We also have some fun behind the scenes action for you – first with the replay of the Periscope broadcast – you can join in the fun and follow us on Periscope at @frameablefaces at this link, or you can just check out the broadcasts from twitter here.

And here is an amazing shot from that part of the session that will definitely make you smile….

Double Fun

Caption that one however you like.  🙂

We have one more broadcast replay this time from Facebook Live and this one was shared and liked quite a bit…

We’ll leave you with one more photo from the session with the monogrammed burp cloths from the Facebook broadcast:

Double Fun

Double fun indeed!!!!  Double adorable, double delicious – the list goes on and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with Harrison and Henry!

Special Delivery: Newborn Aubrey’s Arrival Is Truly Awesome!

This was truly a special delivery in more ways than one.  You may recall our “Nikon Girl” Angela’s maternity session here on the blog, and if you’ve been following her story you may already know that Ally was there to photograph the birth of Angela and Cam’s beautiful baby girl Aubrey…  here is the photo essay from our YouTube channel from that amazing day:

6 days later marked Aubrey’s arrival in the studio for her newborn session and it was so special!  We have a few highlights to share!

Special Delivery: Aubrey’s Arrival!

Aubrey was a pro – what do you expect?  She’s the daughter of an amazing photographer!  Lots of pink….  let’s take a look:

So peaceful – just snoozin’ in the basket…

We also have plenty of behind the scenes from the session – first with the replay of our Facebook Live broadcast:

Now let’s take a look at a couple more shots including one more in the basket…

Special Delivery

At this point we changed gears and broke out the pink tutu.  Aubrey did plenty more sleeping which is perfect for a newborn session!  This next photo is a little tricky and requires a couple shots to composite together – it turned out perfectly!

Special Delivery

We also have another live broadcast to share – this time from our show that we do on ParachuteTV1 on Tuesday afternoons at 2 PM EST called “The Photo Shop” on Periscope.  You can follow us on Periscope at @FrameableFaces at this link, or you can (and should) check out the ParachuteTV1 schedule on Periscope at their website – it’s a very cool network with some great shows!

A Brand New Life Only 5 Days Old – Meet Alan!

We are excited for you to meet Alan!  We were certainly excited to meet him once we got the call that he would be “bringing” his family with him to the studio 5 days after he entered the world!  We had a session scheduled for that Saturday afternoon but nothing in the morning so it worked out nicely.  With newborn babies you have a short window where they are still newborn and the earlier they can come to the studio the better…

Alan came to the studio with his delightful parents Mallory and David and his older brother Eli who isn’t even 2 yet, but Eli was totally up for this.  He was loving on his little brother and he looks like he’ll be a great older bro as you’ll see!

Meet Alan!

So let’s take a look at some photos!  As usual we had the lights down low, the heat up high and the classical music playing to create a nice warm soothing environment, and Alan was a breeze to work with.  Here he is!

Meet Alan

So precious!

Before we look at a few more photos let’s look at our fun behind the scenes action from the morning!  First with our 6 second looping Vine:

Next we have the extended replay of the live Periscope broadcast from the session where you can get a feel for what the newborn sessions are like here.  If you still haven’t downloaded Periscope yet you can do so and follow us at @FrameableFaces at this link.

Now let’s get back to a few photos including this one with some awesome brotherly love in black and white!

Meet Alan

Next we have two more sweet photos of Alan – he was sleeping in both of them!

Meet Alan

Love it with the baby blue hat.

Meet Alan

So great.  And that will do it for now!  We hope you enjoyed meeting Alan – we certainly were honored to hang with him this early in his life!

Nick And Jen Return – This Time With Jeralyn For Her Debut!

Jeralyn made her highly anticipated debut at the studio with her parents Nick and Jen, who you might remember from this one of a kind story we told you about recently…  And what an eventful and amazing photo session this was!  We are so excited to present these to you!  Our story with these guys has been truly special since that first phone call.

Jeralyn Makes Her Debut…

Jeralyn

Is there anything more amazing and perfect than a newborn baby?  She’s so beautiful!  It’s so nice when you can get your model to sleep for a bit, so we turn the lights low, the heat up and we put on a little classical music to help create a nice comforting mood.

We had a few backdrops and setups planned for this session, and next we moved to some pink fluffy awesomeness so Jeralyn could open her eyes and stretch out a little, floating on her pink cloud.

Jeralyn

Before we move to our next couple shots let’s look at a little of our fun behind the scenes action and a bonus poop heard round the world – LITERALLY…

I was documenting some of the session for snapchat – that day we were featured doing a snap swap takeover of the Summit Live snapchat account.  Both our profile and the Summit profile has worldwide followings.  I hit the record button and I swear it was like it was a poop remote control because Nick and Jen were holding a naked Jeralyn when she let loose!  So hilarious…  You can see it in this 6 second looping Vine

Wait, we’re not done.  The next morning we were laughing about this on “The Doug & Ally Morning Show” we do on Periscope Tuesday through Friday mornings and Rich Nairn who has done the artwork for the soon-to-be-ready morning show t-shirts was in the broadcast.  You have to visit Rich’s website – he’s a genius!  When he saw the footage he was inspired to do a “doodle” which he does frequently…  Here we see Jeralyn propelling herself through the air!!!  HAHA!

Jeralyn

How funny is that?

Next we have the replay of our live Periscope broadcast from the session for your extended viewing pleasure.  Needless to say our female viewers were gushing over Jeralyn!  If you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet you can get it and follow us at @FrameableFaces at this link:

Now let’s get back to a couple more amazing photos of Jeralyn:

Jeralyn

Love the black and white with her eyes open!

And one more with a beautiful sari for this photo which is actually a composite (which is the safe way to execute this pose).  What a great photo!

Jeralyn

And there you have it – our wonderful continuing story of Nick, Jen and now Jeralyn!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from her debut!

It Is Time To Meet Al and Tarcha’s New Arrival – Nala!

Yes it is time to meet Al and Tarcha’s new arrival – Nala!  We were so excited to meet her!  We have known Al and Tarcha for 5 years now and we have done headshots for Al, his dad, photos for their church in Detroit where Al is a pastor, maternity photos of Tarcha when they were expecting and now finally little Nala!  We have shared plenty of good times with these guys and they have really become friends in addition to being clients.  It is really special for us to see their family growing.

Meanwhile Tarcha’s mom was in town for the session as well so she was able to join in for a couple photos which was great – what a wonderful lady!  Nala was a total champ for this session and we have a few highlights to share with you!

New Arrival

Nala arrived quite early – she apparently couldn’t wait to get out and see the world – but this session coincided with what would have been a week after her scheduled arrival.  We did some photos on the grey fabric and the black fabric.  Let’s start with the grey and with grandma included…

New ArrivalJust so wonderful!

Now let’s narrow down to the happy family unit – just Nala and her parents:

New Arrival

So much love in that picture!!!

Okay now before we switch backdrops let’s take a look at our fun behind the scenes footage of the session.  First with our 6 second looping Vine:

Next we have our extended behind the scenes replay of our live Periscope broadcast – those of you who are regular viewers may have seen us introduce “Pastor Al” on a previous broadcast, and if you don’t have Periscope yet you can download it and follow us at @frameablefaces at this link:

Okay now let’s get to the black backdrop for these beautiful photos with Nala first with her mommy…

New Arrival

Just gorgeous.

And lastly we have a matching photo with daddy!

New Arrival

Just in love with this session.

And that will do it for now – we hope you enjoyed celebrating Nala’s new arrival with us!

A Pro At Two Months Old!

We had the total pleasure of photographing a family new to our studio with an awesome little smushy two month old baby boy with a thick head of hair and a totally easy disposition.  When babies get beyond two weeks old they start to sleep a little less and it is anybody’s guess how the session will go because sometimes their napping, eating, and pooping schedules start to shift around.  Well this little guy was so easy to work with!  He was really a pro at two months old!

Two Months Old

We did block off plenty of time for this session – sometimes for the little ones you need more time if you are waiting for eating, diaper changing and the like, but we did not need the extra time.  We started with some shots of just the baby since that was priority number one and he was fast asleep and ready to go.

Two Months Old

Next we brought the rest of the family into the act, and when I say the rest of the family I really mean the rest of the family – including the kitty!  We love when families bring the pets along, and Ally loves cats (we have two of our own).  What a nice family – and the dad loves football so that automatically makes him cool.

Here is a fun behind the scenes vine of the action!

A Growing Family – Right Before Our Eyes!

This was a very special pair of photo sessions!  This family came in just two days before the due date of the new baby girl’s arrival into the world!  Maternity sessions are so beautiful and this one was no exception.  Then five days later they came back on the way from the hospital with the baby!  A brand new three day old newborn!  Love, LOVE, LOVE!!!

Family Portrait (maternity)

First for the maternity session…  Anticipation was high and they knew that a baby girl was coming so pink was the theme!  Ally always says guys look great in pink and this baby girl will have several men to look out for her who were pretty excited for her arrival!  Here are a couple peeks from the session:

Couple Maternity PortraitBrothers Portrait

Then a few days later we got the call that the little princess had arrived and that they would be coming straight here from the hospital on her third day – we were so excited!  And not only was she a beautiful baby, but this was the easiest newborn session we have EVER had.  She slept almost the whole time and didn’t even poop during the session once!  🙂  This baby had the most pleasant disposition we have encountered.  Take a look!

A Family Finally Completed

The last time we photographed this family they were a family of 4.  Now they’re a family of 5 and what a journey they took to get here.  After a very sad and extremely dangerous episode a few years ago that resulted in the loss of the baby that would have completed their family along with the ability to have any more children, some time passed and they never quite felt like they were complete.  They were happy but something told them they were still meant to be a family of 5 all the same, so first they healed, then they talked, then they dreamed, and then they hoped for the opportunity to adopt and bring another life into their home and their family.

They took the steps needed to adopt and first they looked to Russia.  Plans were made.  A lot of time, effort and emotion was invested into this and they were going to need to take three trips in all to Russia to find and bring home their daughter.  And then…. their hopes were temporarily squashed by Vladimir Putin when he signed an anti-U.S. adoption bill on December 28th, 2012 banning the adoption of Russian children by U.S. families effective January 1, 2013.  Luckily they hadn’t taken the first trip to Russia yet, but this was still a setback to be sure.

So back to the drawing board they went to find a baby girl here in the states, and after 5 anxious months the journey finally led them to Utah where they found their beautiful daughter!  They brought her home to her new and excited siblings and they all came to the studio shortly thereafter.  They are finally complete and we are so happy for them!

“Perfect” Children!

Let me explain….   We have photographed plenty of little ones.  Newborns, toddlers, kids – and we love all of our little Frameables.  Often when we tell parents that our sessions are two hours they react by saying “there is no way my child will sit and pose for two hours”, and we reply saying “that’s why we need two hours!”  Sometimes toddlers need a little time to get comfortable, and for newborns in particular we block off 3 hours and try not to schedule anything right after just in case we need more time.  With newborns very often there are feedings that need to happen, diapers that need to be changed, and sometimes we need to wait it out while baby falls asleep so we can take photos while they are sleeping.  It’s not a perfect step by step choreography, but that’s okay – it doesn’t have to be.  We almost always get what we need even if the good stuff doesn’t start to happen right away…

Having said all that, there was one child that we photographed three years ago that we always remember as being so extraordinarily easy to work with as a newborn – we were able to get a ton of perfect shots and it didn’t take long at all.  Well, she just came back as a three year old with her 9 day old sister and sure enough, she did an incredible job again – this time with baby sis and the baby was amazing too!  These parents are 2 for 2!  Like the title of this post says – PERFECT CHILDREN!!!  We love love love these photos… and hope you enjoy them too!  🙂
