Illuminating Ian With Some Fantastic Senior Pictures!

We are thrilled to present the highlights from the day we were illuminating Ian for his senior pictures!!!  An awesome day in multiple locations including downtown Detroit and Ian crushed it.  We weren’t surprised since he’s a legacy and his sister Sara’s session was also reeeeeeeally great.  We had a blast and plenty of laughs with this dude and his delightful mom Diana, so let’s get to a few highlights!

Illuminating Ian

Let’s get to it:

Illuminating Ian

Looking good – love this guy’s hair too!

Illuminating Ian

That light, those colors, that senior!!!

Ian is an artist too – one of his mediums of choice is oil on canvas with some mixed materials / media added at times and he brought his art to the proceedings as well – you can see he’s wearing his painter’s jacket above and here’s some behind the scenes from Facebook!

Great fun!

At this point we headed downtown to Detroit where we captured Ian at one of our fave spots!

An Incredible Photo Restored From 1922 – Over A Century Ago!

We love restoring old photos that people bring us – the stories we learn and being able to give them new life when we bring back the detail in a faded memory is just so rewarding!  This one was no exception.

When Diane brought this incredible 1922 photo (she’s pretty sure it was either ’22 or ’23) which included her dad and grandparents we were mesmerized.  What a photo!  But it was 100 years old and fading fast…

An Incredible Photo Restored From 1922

Here’s the story of the photo from Diane:

“These were immigrants who came here (legally-lol) for a better life from Crni Lug, Croatia in the early 1900’s.  This picture was taken 1922-23 in Shingleton, Michigan.  The bride and groom are Josephine (Stimac) and Frank Lisak. The couple with the baby carriage are Joseph and Antonia Stimac.  The small boy in the carriage is my father Raymond.   Antonia died a year later from tuberculosis.  I received the picture which had been stored in a box for years.”

1922
We are pretty pleased with the result – we were able to bring back most of the detail, clean up the damage and recover this incredible scene.  Take a look…

1922
Just a fantastic moment in time over a century ago – recovered and restored!

Check your closets and shoeboxes and bring your history our way!

Landscape Photos In The National Parks Of The American West!

We took an epic road trip through the American West in May/June – just Ally, Doug, Lacey and Tony in a Ford Escape.

15 days, 13 states, 9 National Parks, national forests, visits with friends in multiple cities, 3 homes of United States presidents….  whew.  It was AWESOME.

Ally doesn’t always bring her camera on our trips but she did on this one and took some landscape photos – a change of pace for her with the greatest outdoor subjects imaginable!  America’s National Parks!

Landscape Photos In the National Parks Of The American West!

Now keep in mind she didn’t document the entire trip – we highly recommend you check out the companion piece to this post at Doug’s History blog at his M10 Social website for the entire story, tons of commentary, videos, tips and recommendations for your own roadtrip (you should definitely do it).  Doug is a very good amateur iPhoneographer and we did a lot of hiking on this trip and Ally wasn’t about to take her bulky camera on strenuous hikes.  But the photos Ally did take?  Well….

National Parks

Prairie Dogs at Badlands National Park

How awesome are those Prairie Dogs?????  Roberts Prairie Dog Town at Badlands National Park is amazing.  There are prairie dogs in several different locations at the Badlands but this one area is the “town” where you can just sit and watch them for as long as you like.  It’s a totally natural habitat – just because they call it a “town” doesn’t mean they have an exhibit like at the zoo or anything – this is the real deal.  And it’s not like you have to get lucky to see them – there are tons of them although you definitely have to get extremely lucky to get THREE of them to POSE like this crew, and Ally did!  She just has that touch lol….

Here’s another photo from the Badlands…

Here’s a view of Mt. Rushmore.

The next several photos are from Yellowstone National Park with its wondrous thermal basins and wildlife…

Bison at Yellowstone

We saw bison everywhere at both Badlands and Yellowstone!

A furry friend at Yellowstone National Park

Obviously seeing a chipmunk isn’t unique to National Parks but we couldn’t resist this little furball having a snack.

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone Lake is really spectacular and we came across this elk hanging out too…

Love that photo.

Last one from Yellowstone – the Grand Prismatic Spring!

Here are a couple from the next day at Grand Teton National Park which borders Yellowstone to the South.

Grand Teton National Park

Such a majestic place….

Here’s one from the south rim of the Grand Canyon (the north rim opened just a few days after we were there).

Grand Canyon National Park

We also made a stop at Horseshoe Bend later on the same day we hit the Grand Canyon:

The next several photos we’ll leave you with are from 4 of the “Utah Mighty Five” but we did indeed get to all five of them!

A trip of a lifetime and we cannot wait to get back out there….

We hope you enjoyed these highlights from out west!

Raechele and Tim Have Such A Great Family! Much Fun!

Family portraits are a lot of fun for us here at the studio, and Raechele and Tim’s crew were no exception!  They were a delight to have here and their two sons Mercer and Ellis did a great job!  Listen, we get it that young teenaged boys don’t necessarily dream about getting dressed up in suits to pose for photos, but these two were total gentlemen and they made the best of it!  We had plenty of laughs and a generally great time.  Everyone looked great and we’ve got some outstanding results to share!!!

Let’s get to it.

Raechele, Tim, Mercer and Ellis!

Let’s start with the whole group:

Raechele

Yes!  A classic portrait!

We also have a little behind the scenes fun from Facebook:

And now the happy couple:

Raechele

We are fans.

Now we’ve got the dudes in the spotlight:

Raechele

Handsome young men!

We’ll leave you with one more:

Raechele

They crushed it!

So there you have it!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our time with Raechele, Tim, Mercer and Ellis!
