Carly and Chet Got Engaged and We Were There To Capture It!

We’ve known Carly for a long time now dating back to her senior pictures about a decade ago and we LOVE her.  She’s Ally’s birthday twin and we’ve had a great friendship for years now.  She was last here in the studio with her now-fiancé Chet right before the pandemic started with all of their pets, and we liked Chet from our first time meeting him, so when he called Ally to say he wanted us to be there to photograph him popping the question to Carly we were thrilled!

Planning…

We met Chet on location a week in advance in Clarkston to scope out the scene so we could be prepared and in the right spot – Carly had no clue.  We had it all planned out right down to the fake goodbye after the question and the photos when we actually headed straight to their house to get photos of family who flew in and surprised Carly again!  We were pretty pumped.

Carly & Chet Get Engaged

As for the engagement it happened on an EXTREMELY cold day and I was nervous Chet wasn’t going to get Carly to go for a walk – like why would you just “go for a walk” when it’s like 0 degrees?  Well he pulled it off and we were waiting in a nearby gazebo when they approached.  Chet took a knee at the end of the bridge right by us.  We watched the whole thing as Carly freaked out and then her surprise when she discovered it was us taking pics!  Just such an awesome moment.  Let’s get to the pics!

First – THE moment…

CarlySo amazing!

Carly

Think they’re happy?

Here’s some awesome behind the scenes while Carly was still on cloud nine from Facebook

We took a few more engagement pics of the happy couple – here’s three of them – first on the gazebo:

Back on the bridge:

And we’ll leave you with this one in black and white on a nearby bench…

Carly

LOVE it.

We wish them a life of happiness and we were so glad to be a part of that day!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights!

Krista Brought Joe & Cutest Parents Jim & Jean By For A Special Session!

Krista and Joe have been to the studio a couple times before for various family photos – some with the kids, but never with just them and Krista’s parents Jim and Jean.  We are so happy they did this because it was much fun and just really so special!  You could just tell this meant a lot to all of them and the behind the scenes from Facebook and Snapchat will give you a sense of that.  Besides Jim and Jean were both a delight to have a little fun banter with – they were great on camera!  We nominate them in the category of Cutest Parents Ever.

Cutest Parents Ever!

These photos were all done in the studio with a couple of outfit changes for Krista and Joe so they could get a few photos together just the two of them.  But first we’re going to focus on the photos that include Jim and Jean, starting with a group photo:

Cutest Parents

Next we have this wonderful photo of Jim and Jean together…

Cutest Parents

So much love in that photo!  And here you can see just how much fun we were having in the behind the scenes livestream from Facebook Live!  Just click on the arrow in the middle of the image below.

We’ll share one of Krista and her mommy before we conclude with one of Krista and Joe…

Cutest Parents

LOVE.

Now we have one of Krista and Joe a bit more dressed up and looking GREAT!

Cutest Parents

Last but not least we decided to upload the Snapchat story to our YouTube channel so we could include it here just because there were a few more great moments there….

So there you have it!  Krista, Joe, and Krista’s cutest parents!!!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our time with them!

Photographs Of A Biloxi Bride And Her Beau With A Baby On The Way!

Biloxi Bride has a nice ring to it and we love Lana – we have for a while even before we met her in person!  We met Lana through Periscope, a live streaming app owned by Twitter that we’ve been broadcasting on since 2015.  To say that this app changed our lives would be an understatement and these photos are further proof – heck we’ve blogged about it enough that if you’ve been following us at all over the last couple years you know this already…

Meanwhile when we first saw the handle of @thelittlemilfmaid pop up on the app we had to chuckle a little.  And it turned out to be Lana – a gorgeous little fireball with a cute little boy and a fascinating life as a dancer in New Orleans with plenty of tales of her own on the app.  We connected with her and became fast friends, and she even shipped us some delicious chicory coffee from NOLA – YUM!  She had been saying for a while that she wanted to have us take pictures of her someday and we thought that would be so much fun to do!  Well the opportunity finally presented itself…

Here’s one to start with of the happy couple!

Biloxi Bride

Awwww so sweet!

The Frameable Faces Spring Tour 2017!

We had been talking about taking a road trip during spring break to see family and friends, and we knew that not only did we have some friends we met through Periscope along the way, but that some of them had been saying for some time that they would love to do a photo session with us if only we were closer!  We put the word out that we were coming South and Lana along with our friend Nelma in Pensacola (blog post coming soon) both said “we’re in” for photos!  The Frameable Faces Spring Tour 2017 started to take shape (blog post coming on that too).  We had it all planned out to do an afternoon session in Biloxi with Lana and her fiancé Chase who are also expecting!  Lana was around 6 months pregnant for this shoot and you would barely know it.  They are going to be a perfect blended fam – Chase has kids of his own, and Lana’s little guy Channing and her mom Angela (both of whom we also know from Periscope) actually came by to hang out on the session and we had so much fun.  What’s cool about Periscope is 9 times out of 10 when someone is broadcasting live you get to see who they really are – it’s not usually super rehearsed and Lana is no exception – she’s cray cray in the very best way way – a true delight!

Meanwhile here is the behind the scenes broadcast we did live on – you guessed it – Periscope.  You can download the app and join in the fun on our future broadcasts at @FrameableFaces here or you can also check them out from twitter here.

As you can see in the broadcast we did some photographing at the Hurricane Katrina Memorial – a sobering spot marked by a beautiful mural.  Biloxi was hit extremely hard by the hurricane and the resiliency of the community was on display everywhere you looked – we were impressed with the cool little coastal city.  Here’s one of our resulting photos at that spot:

Biloxi Bride

Love that pose!

Chase meanwhile is a bit of a jack of all trades – he repairs iPhones and is an MMA fighter, so don’t mess with him.  Hehe…

We moved around town for a few shots and finished at a park close to the Biloxi lighthouse for these last two:

Biloxi Bride

Biloxi Bride

We should also mention a fun little footnote….  these were originally planned as engagement photos, but these two decided to change gears and get married less than a week after our session!  So they’re already married!!!  Lana has already been a Biloxi Bride and the next photo is a perfect happily ever after to finish on!

Biloxi Bride

So there you have it – a Biloxi Bride and her beau with a baby on the way!  We hope you enjoyed our first ever photo session in Mississippi with this wonderful couple!

A Breathtaking Example Of Maternity And Serendipity

Serendipity is an amazing thing when it happens.  When you get swirled up in it and you know something special is happening it’s an amazing and rare experience.  Do you know what serendipity is?  Here’s the official definition:

Serendipity

Now here’s the way it went down on March 16, 2016 at Frameable Faces…

Me: Frameable Faces this is Doug!

Phone Caller: Uh hello – we have a bit of an urgent situation here with a maternity session….  um – you see my wife…. well are you available to take photos of my wife today?

Me: Wait – is she in labor?????

Phone Caller: Well no she’s not in labor – it’s not an emergency like that or anything.  Let me explain.  Here’s what happened…

What happened was that Nick and Jen were 36 weeks pregnant and had a maternity photo session planned with another studio that day.  They were all prepared with clothing and Jen had her hair and makeup done only to be told that the studio had double booked them and they were out of luck.  Sorry, no go, thanks for playing.  Nick did a quick search on Yelp, came across Frameable Faces and took a chance with a phone call.  Now keep in mind that this is NOT how we do photo sessions here.  We don’t take walk-ins as a general rule with no consultation ahead of time to plan the session where we can get to know the clients and make sure everyone is prepared and on the same page.  But these folks were in a bind and we didn’t have any appointments that afternoon – and my gut (after checking with Ally) said to go with it.

Serendipity…

We were not expecting a session that day, and they were not expecting to have to shift gears and drive almost a half hour to a studio they didn’t know on the fly for a maternity session which can be a relatively intimate affair.  But from the moment they walked in we connected – it felt right and it turned out to be one of the best maternity sessions we’ve ever done.  What a wonderful couple – we even broadcast some of the session live on Periscope and you can watch the replay below, but before we get to that let’s see a couple of the photos!

Serendipity

How cute are they?

We used two different backdrops starting with the black above and the next photo is also on the black with the sari stretched out behind Jen and her hair gently blowing – beautiful!

Serendipity

Now let’s take a look at our behind the scenes action from the session.  First we have our fun 6 second looping Vine:

Now we have the replay of the live Periscope broadcast from our YouTube page!  If you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet you should do so immediately!  You can follow us there (and just about everywhere else) at the handle @frameablefaces at this link:

Here is the link to the broadcast.

Now let’s get back to a couple of gorgeous photos of Jen on the white background.  So beautiful, so angelic!

Serendipity

Breathtaking indeed…  And we’ll leave you with one more:

Serendipity

We can’t wait to meet the baby!  Maybe, just maybe you’ll have a chance to meet the baby here too!  We were thrilled to be able to meet these two, photograph them and present them to you!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights – serendipity indeed.
