Alison Arrives In Style For Some Senior Pics With Us In Detroit!

It’s clear that Alison arrives in style as she did on the day of her senior session which took us all around Detroit! This included Belle Isle which we traversed and found a couple of new trails and spots there (that’s three senior posts in a row with new spots).  We also spent some time exploring Eastern Market and we even made a stop for a bite at one of Detroit’s many amazing local eateries – Parks & Rec!  So you could say we really killed it – a great day with great results!

Alison Arrives…

Alison’s mom Cindy came with us for our adventure and we had a great time!  We started on Belle Isle and our first shot is a new spot which will be known as Alison’s bridge from now on for our sessions down there!  Very cool…

Alison Arrives

We also have plenty of behind the scenes action to share – starting with a broadcast replay from Periscope!  You can download the app and be a part of our broadcasts by following us at @FrameableFaces at this link, or you can just watch from Twitter here.

After Belle Isle we headed over to the Eastern Market to hunt for some murals, abandoned buildings, and graffiti and we found a little of each!  Here’s one more broadcast this time from Facebook before we headed over there…

Over at Eastern Market we started out with this cool mural…

Alison Arrives

Love it!

We also headed back to what is becoming one of our favorite abandoned buildings down there for this photo:

Alison Arrives

Yasssssss Alison!

At this point after a pit stop at Parks & Rec for a little yummy brunch we headed back to the studio for a few more and we’ll leave you with one of those on the black background:

Alison Arrives

What a session, what a day, and what a senior!  Alison arrived in style for sure and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

Getting Modernistic With Mallory On Her Senior Session!

So let me explain the title a little here….

I’m going to spill one of my huge blogging secrets here.  Sometimes I use a thesaurus for our titles if I’m stumped for a word that begins with the same letter of our senior’s name.  There – I said it.

Meanwhile, with Mallory the word I wanted to match was STYLISH because this girl has some serious style.  Sure many of our seniors do, but Mallory is a level above, and why shouldn’t she be – she has spent a lot of time working for our mall neighbors Guys N Gals so she has the fashion piece down.  Modernistic is a synonym for stylish and I kinda like it!  See what I did there?  You’ll see when you see the photos below.

Modernistic With Mallory…

So while Mallory came prepared with the killer wardrobe selection her mom Perah came along and Ally has known her for a long time – oh and Mallory and our Lacey are friends too so we knew this would be an exceptional session!  We started on location in the morning and our conditions were perfect once again so let’s get to it!  We started with natural settings:

Modernistic

She’s totes adorbs.  Notice that the girl knows how to accessorize too!

Now let’s mix in some behind the scenes fun from our day!  First with our 6 second vine for your viewing pleasure…

And next we have the first of a few live video snippets from that morning starting with a Periscope broadcast on location – if you aren’t following us on Periscope you can download the app and be a part of the shows from your smartphone here, or just watch from twitter here.

First the Quarton Lake broadcast:

And here is one more gorgeous photo of our stylish senior at the lake!

Modernistic

Beautiful!

Before we head back to the studio we have a photo to share from downtown Birmingham that we love in a spot we’ve used a handful of times, just not with this chair!

Modernistic

And here is the behind the scenes broadcast from the city…

Now let’s head back to the studio where we finished up our day with a little Detroit love and we did another quick broadcast this time on Facebook Live!

And we’ll leave you with this photo from that last part of our day here at the studio…

Modernistic

Okay how cute is she?  We had a lot of fun with Mallory and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

We Took Over Detroit With Reed On His Senior Session!

We have spent more time in Detroit this year than ever before and that’s not by accident.  Detroit has been roaring back with a comeback like we’ve never seen in our lifetime and many seniors want to have their sessions in the city.  We have become familiar with some great spots and we are still discovering new ones all the time making for some awesome outings!  Reed’s session was no exception and he’s the second guy from this family Ally has had in front of her camera!

Family Affair…

Reed’s parents Brent and Tracie came along for the day as did his younger brother Mason.  Brent and I worked together back in my corporate days so we go pretty far back – about 20 years to be exact!  So this was a fun opportunity to hang out together for a day – it turned out to be somewhat of a wild and wacky session complete with wipeouts and a traveling party that got involved (more on that later) and the weather even cooperated despite a shaky forecast!  So let’s get to it.  But first a studio shot before we head downtown…

Reed

Good looking dude – looks just like his dad too…

Reed Takes Over Detroit…

Our first stop was on Belle Isle which is definitely becoming one of our favorite spots.  Love this view of the skyline behind our guy!

Reed

We have a couple more to look at but let’s sprinkle in a little behind the scenes action… First the 6 second looping Vine that pretty much sums it all up….

Here is the replay of our Periscope broadcast from Belle Isle.  You can be a part of our broadcasts on the Periscope app with your smartphone by downloading the app and following us at @FrameableFaces here.

Here’s another photo from Belle Isle with a new spot we found with the bog in the background and a well placed American Flag!

Reed

Now here is where it gets a little crazy!  Hehe…

This next Periscope replay you’ll see where this merry band of travelers came pedaling by Comerica park where we were setting up to get a photo in front of one of the Tiger statues.  Brent went to grab my iPhone but like a botched track and field relay the handoff failed and Brent went down trying to save it…  I guess I should have known this broadcast was pegged for madness when I somehow started the broadcast without the title pasted in.  “Untitled” is probably appropriate.  Ha!

Meanwhile if you watched the whole thing you saw that the party people took a liking to Reed and wanted their own senior picture, so here it is….

Reed

Classic!!!

From there we headed over to the Dequindre Cut to wrap it up, and we broadcasted again this time on Facebook Live…

We’ll leave you with one more photo from this last part of the session…

Reed

And there you have it!  We certainly took over Detroit on this day with Reed – a session we’ll never forget and we hope you enjoyed the highlights!

Lizzie In Da Hizzie For A Fantastic Senior Session!

Yasssss Lizzie was in da hizzie for a fantastic senior session!!!  You gotta be down with the lingo to understand that but basically it means she was here – but in a much more interesting way.  And why not?  She’s a fun and anything-but-ordinary girl!  She’s cool – sharp, personable and beautiful and we really enjoyed being with her and her mom Rimma!  One by one Lizzie and the rest of her crew have come here for senior portraits and we have loved each one them!

Lizzie In Da Hizzie

Meanwhile Lizzie was ready to rock with style and fashion – she loved the camera and the camera loved her and you’ll see that in the sneak peeks we’re about to show as well as the replay of the Periscope broadcast we did in the studio.  We had a perfect day and our gameplan was studio first, Birmingham second with some pretty and some city.  Let’s start with the studio on the black background…

Lizzie

Love it!

Before we move on to the Birmingham sneak peeks let’s go behind the scenes of the shoot first with our looping 6 second vine:

Next let’s take a look at the live replay of the Periscope broadcast from the studio!  You can download the app and follow us there at this link.

As a side note we also broadcast from our location but Periscope was having issues that day – you can see that broadcast here but the volume cuts out part of the way through…

On to Birmingham

Okay let’s get back to the photos…  First at Quarton Lake for some pretty:

Lizzie

Such a pretty shot and love the backlight on her hair…..!!!

One more at Quarton Lake…

Lizzie

We are in LOVE with that one…

Okay and last but not least, to downtown Birmingham for some gritty in the city:

Lizzie

And there you have it!  Lizzie in the hizzie and owning her session like a pro!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her even a fraction of how much we enjoyed photographing her!

Kickin’ It With Jake And The Fam For Senior Portraits!

Jake and the fam – as in Jake’s parents and one of his brothers – joined us on two separate days for his senior photos because of rain on the original date that prevented us from going on location.  I mentioned this a couple blog posts back with another senior guy that had the same scenario and once again it worked out well because we had so much fun with these guys.  Jake’s little brother Zack is quite the character, and his parents are great – Shari is an awesome guest host as you’ll see in the replay of the Periscope broadcasts from the sessions!

Kickin’ It…

As for Jake – he’s a good guy and the captain of his soccer team, which is why we were “kickin’ it” – see what I did there?  We’ll start with the studio photos which was the first day.  We used a couple of different backgrounds and as we often do with athletes, some fire!  First let’s start with a formal close up on the blueish grey…

Jake And The Fam

Blue backdrop, blue tie, blue eyes – it works.

Next let’s heat it up with some fire on the soccer ball which is of course real fire – no fake photoshopping here!

Jake and the fam

Now let’s take a look at our behind the scenes action, starting with our 6 second looping vine with footage from both days – it’s amazing what you can do with 6 seconds!

Jake and the fam!

Now for our epic YouTube replays from our Periscope broadcasts partly guest hosted by Jake’s mom Shari (and the occasional scene-stealing by Zack)!  We love when our moms guest host!  You can download the app and follow us on Periscope at @frameablefaces here.

Now for a couple of location photos.  We had a lovely day in West Bloomfield for these shots and we started with a nice big tree on one of the trails…

Jake and the fam

And one more before we leave you for now…

Jake and the fam

And there you have it!  We hope you enjoyed kickin’ it with Jake and the fam and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of his session!

Marc Had A Re”marc”able Senior Portrait Session!

Marc had a re”marc”able senior session that spanned two separate days and gave us plenty to remember.  Rainouts can be a double edged sword with senior guys.  With girls it’s a drag because you have to watch the forecast and make decisions because girls have to get hair and makeup done.  With guys you can split it up and just do the studio stuff on the rainy day, and sure you have to find another day to squeeze in the location shoot, but at least you get to hang out a second time on a different day!  More fun!

Meanwhile Marc is a really nice kid and we had a lot of fun with his mom!  Marc’s girlfriend hung out for the studio part and his mom Cheri was there for both – you can see below if you like, where she guest hosted our Periscope broadcast of the session in Birmingham!  Meanwhile let’s get to some photos of “re-marc-able” Marc!

Marc Had It…

Yes he had it – style, personality, and good looks, and we started to photograph it all in the studio so let’s look at one of those shots first:

Marc Had

Love the grey on grey!

Now let’s head to the location session but before we do let’s see our behind the scenes action starting with our 6 second looping Vine:

Next we have the replay of the extended Periscope live broadcast with Cheri guest hosting for part of it!  You can download the app and follow us on Periscope here.

Re”marc”able

Now for the location photos:

Marc Had

You can see the tips of the leaves just starting to turn color here…

From the parking structure we headed to an alleyway…

Marc Had

And then we’ll leave you with this one relaxing on the curb…

Marc Had

So there you have it – quite re”marc”able we must say!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from our day(s) with him!

Maybe We’re Amazed At Mia’s Senior Session!

Amazed is a good word for how we feel about Mia’s session.  Not because we’re surprised at how awesome it is, just because it’s that great.  Another legacy senior, Mia’s older sister Danielle was one of our seniors a couple years ago and Mia actually joined us on Danielle’s spokesmodel session so we knew Mia already and were excited when her mom called to schedule Mia’s session!

We would probably say that with younger siblings it’s about 50/50 on whether we go to the same spots and do the same kind of session for both or whether we do something completely different so they get their own style.  With Mia we went to the same spots in Birmingham as Danielle which we think is really cute, and we started out at Quarton Lake:

Amazed

Amazed indeed…

Right?  How gorgeous is that first shot?  We should also mention that Mia’s dad Howard joined us on this session and he’s hilarious.  Totally cool, the two of them have a great relationship and he was a welcome addition to the hangout.  Before we head to the city shots let’s take a look at some of the behind the scenes action.  First here’s our six second vine

She’s sooo cute!

We also broadcasted some of the session on Periscope and here is the replay from our YouTube channel!  You can download the app and follow us at @frameablefaces here.

To the city…

Now let’s look at our photos from downtown Birmingham which are…..yep – amazing!

Amazed

Love that “gritty” shot in the alley with the metal door!  Let’s look at a couple more in different outfits:

Amazed

The girl has style!  We’ll now leave you with this last photo in the city.  Love the colors here! Check it out…

Amazed

So there are your highlights!  You can see why we are amazed by this girl – she’s pretty awesome and so was her session!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day!

Samantha Is The Last And Far From The Least!

Samantha is the last senior and far from the least senior……not from the class of 2015, but from the class of 2014!!!  When she called and said she was interested in senior photos but she knew she was a little late I said “oh you’re still okay – we still have plenty of time” thinking she was a current senior.  The fact is she graduated in June so yes she was late indeed!  Haha!  But no worries we told her – better late than never, and there is no doubt in our minds that for the class of 2014 we got one of the very best for last!  What a sweetheart!

We spent most of our time together on location which is what we will focus on here, although we did come back to the studio for a traditional cap and gown photo too.

There is much to work with that we are still discovering in Heritage Park and that’s where we spent our morning with Samantha.

Samantha is the last

We love the boulders in the above photo as a backdrop – such great texture for a background.  And how great and sparkly is this girl’s smile?  She’s awesome.  Next we moved over to some pathways and bridges and our conditions were perfect – we couldn’t have ordered a better morning.  We love this next bridge and we had some nice colors all around here too.

Samantha is the last

Here is our fun behind the scenes vine of the morning!

Next we grabbed a big rock that Ally remembered was on one of the trails with the sun behind it for this next shot… great backlight on Samantha’s hair!

Samantha is the last

Lastly we’ll share this next half length photo on another bridge – just a stunning photo of Samantha here – so beautiful!

Samantha is the last

So as I said – better late than never and while we think Samantha was the last of the class of 2014 she was certainly far from the least!!!

Spokesmodeling in the City with Ethan!

We went spokesmodeling in the city with Ethan since the weather is finally starting to get warmer, and it was so nice to be able to get outside again without trekking through snow and freezing our tails off!  We will have a few more of these outdoor outings to come before we wrap it all up and move into the senior photos for the class of 2015!

We will “get out to the city” in just a minute.  With Ethan we started in the studio on the grey backdrop.Spokesmodeling in the city

We always talk about how dramatic the photos are on the black backdrop, but we think the photos on the grey have a dramatic look to them as well.  We think Ethan shows a relaxed confidence here.

Next it was time to go outside and in this case just like Jubilee’s spokesmodel session we stuck to an urban locale.  We will get back out into nature more as things start to bloom a little.

Spokesmodeling in the city

We like the grit and the grunge – sometimes it makes things a little more interesting.  We had a great time with Ethan and his mom came along for the shoot as well!

Here is a fun behind-the-scenes Vine of the action while we got the studio shot against the grey above as well as the next photo below against the brick wall.

Hangin’ and Laughin’ With Calvin!

This is a session that we’ll remember for a long time.  Calvin came in with his older sister – what a fun dynamic that was!  Usually seniors come in with their parents but this was a nice change of pace and we really enjoyed our time with Calvin and Amanda!!!

High School Senior Picture

Calvin did an awesome job and he’s got great style so the session turned out GREAT and we stumbled upon a couple of new spots while we were on location.  New spots are really exciting for us and when you go to an urban setting there seems to be a never ending array of nooks and crannies on walls and in alleys if you open your eyes and look.  We started with some studio work as you can see above, and then we headed to the city before coming back to wrap up with a couple more shots indoors.

Here are a couple of the city shots along with a fun behind-the-scenes vine of the proceedings…

High School Senior Picture

This vine cracks us up as you hear Ally yell at Calvin to “laugh”!!!  Haha!

High School Senior Portrait

While you can see that Calvin has a great smile, he also has the serious look down.  All in all it was a great day and we laughed plenty – we had so much fun hangin’ and laughin’ with Calvin!

High School Senior Picture
