Shaista Brings Back The Whole Crew and They’re Growing UP!!!

We get excited when Shaista brings back the whole crew!  We started photographing her kids shortly after we opened our studio space here in the Orchard Mall and they are just an awesome family – great kids and much fun to have around.  The wrinkle this time was that Shaista brought her husband Shabbir to get the whole family in the photos!  There’s a little story here – we’ve known Shaista and the kids for years but we never met Shabbir before so the running joke was that he wasn’t real – that we didn’t believe he existed.  Haha!  Well we can now say he does indeed exist and he’s as delightful as we would have expected.  I joked with him that we thought he was a phantom and he replied “Hey I was out working hard for these guys!”  Now that’s a good guy.  So without further adieu let’s take a look at some sneak peeks of this fabulous session!

Nelma and Her Fabulous Fam Represents Frameable Nation In Pensacola!

NELLLLLLLLLMAAAAAA!!!  Okay we need to explain.  We met Nelma through Periscope and we’ve known her for quite some time now.  We both used to host game shows on a network called “Play For Stuff”, were hanging out in the same circles in the Periscope community and we have consequently spent plenty of time in each other’s broadcasts.  Nelma actually named our living room in the studio “the parlor” and one of our couches is named for her too………..and she’s never actually set foot in our studio.  She lives in Pensacola, Florida with her husband Alfie and their adorable daughter Lydia.  That just speaks to the amazing madness that is Periscope, and we have no idea how this piece started but anytime Nelma jumps into one of our broadcasts she’s greeted with “NELLLLLLMAAAAA!!!” by the two of us in unison.

So eventually as we’ve documented here we got the idea to plan a road trip for Spring Break that would include photo sessions since we are asked quite often if we would travel to do them.  The Frameable Faces Spring Tour started to take shape and when we said we were coming south to Florida, Nelma said “sign me up”!  We were so excited to finally meet her and to photograph her family!  We met in downtown Pensacola on the back end of a drive all the way up the state from Del Ray just in time for great light and really nice conditions at Plaza Ferdinand VII in the center of town!

Pamela, Michael and GEORGE! A Doggone Great Session!

Pamela had been here in our studio before for some headshots and she is a delightful gal!  So when she called us to come back to the studio we were excited – even more so when she informed us that she would be bringing her hubby Michael and their French Bulldog George!!!  You have to love French Bulldogs, and George is a character – we knew this would make for a doggone great session!

This session was done totally in the studio and we started out with a Detroit Tiger theme which really works with our orange chair!  George was totally coordinated with Pamela and Michael and ready to roll – here’s a full length family portrait to start with…

Neil Is Back, He’s Two, And He’s Still Pretty Darn Cute!

Neil was pretty darn cute when he was here as a little bitty baby, and – no surprise – he’s still pretty darn cute as a two year old!  He came back to the studio with his minions even though it was him who was dressed as one!  Haha…  Parmesh and Nalini are great – we laugh quite a bit when we’re together here in the studio and we had another winning session this time around with different outfits, plenty of toys and plenty of food too!

The “First” Frameable Faces Fam Baby Is On The Way!

Okay so let me explain…  Many of you know our event photographer Angela aka “Nikon Girl”.  Angela has been with us since she walked into the studio on February 11th, 2011 asking if we were looking for a photographer.  She was still a photography student then but she had her little portfolio with her and Ally saw something in her photos, so we kidnapped her that very day and took her on location with us.  She just fit.  She’s always just fit, and she has grown so much as a photographer (even though she shoots with Nikon….haha – as you know Ally shoots with Canon)!  She has captured so many amazing moments for our clients at Bar & Bat Mitzvahs, Communions, Weddings, and various other parties and events!  Meanwhile she has grown in other ways too – like personally!  She’s expecting a little one with her fiancé Cam now and so here we turn the tables and make Angela the subject of a photo session here on the blog!  The first “official” Frameable Faces Fam baby is on the way!

Oh – and it’s a girl!  So here we go – this maternity session was just the cutest and a bit surreal too!

A Magical and Multigenerational Family Session (and 67 Years Of Marriage)!

This is so awesome – Cheryl just popped into the studio asking if we could shoot here in a week if she could pull everyone together since everyone was in town, and we had an open time slot so it worked out!  And what a magical multigenerational family session it was!!!  Cheryl’s hubby, wonderful kids, and parents who have been married for SIXTY SEVEN years were all here and this was surely special.

21 Reasons Photography Is Completely Overrated

Yes.  Photography blows.  We should know better than anybody – we’re photographers.  Through extensive research we have compiled the 21 reasons why photography is completely overrated.

21 Reasons Photography Is Completely Overrated

  1. You’re ugly and no one wants to see photos of you (shots fired! okay you’re not really ugly – this is an intentionally silly list)
  2. Your friends are ugly and no one wants to see photos of them either
  3. It costs a lot of money to actually get a good photo taken – like by an actual pro
  4. Good cameras are like way too expensive and hard to use
  5. Smartphone cameras can be a pain in the butt to figure out and even harder to use effectively than actual cameras
  6. That one time you looked really fat in that photo that was posted on Facebook
  7. You have all these photos with your ex that you never want to look at again
  8. Actual memories are better and you can kinda change them in your head to make them even a little better than they are – it’s harder to change a picture
  9. Because like, leave me alone
  10. Smiling makes your face sore
  11. Your dad is annoying – always wanting to take a picture of you
  12. Your dad is even more annoying thinking selfies make him cool
  13. Your dad is yet even more annoying doing snapchat selfies with half of his face cut off because he knows “it’s a thing”

  14. Your mom is annoying for all of the three previous reasons even if slightly less annoying than your dad

  16. Having to explain……..like, anything
  17. Okay an example of #16 – You told someone you didn’t feel like going out but then got photographed…….out
  18. Narcissists aren’t cool in general and photography gives them an outlet to be….narcissists.
  19. Storage / Syncing struggles
  20. The awkward moment where someone is trying to imply that they want to take a picture of the rest of the group who have something in common that you don’t really have with them.  I mean, it makes sense but still totally awkward.

Just Too Much Cuteness To Handle With This Family…

Gotta love a photo shoot with little munchkins!  This fam was a pure delight to photograph at their home – a great way to spend a Saturday morning with so much cuteness!  Everyone did a fantastic job and everyone looked great!  We had a great feeling about this one right away with Jan and Nicole during the consultation since they are a truly delightful couple.  Their youngest was with them for the initial meeting and she was perfectly behaved and the other two were much fun, even showing off some really impressive gymnastic prowess on the trampoline while we were at the house!

This session took place entirely on location and the weather was perfect!  There was plenty of green to work with in the backyard so let’s get to it.  We’ll start with a shot of the whole family before we get to some individuals of the girls:

We Are Posting This ‘Cuz We Love Photographing Cousins!

It is so nice when cousins are around the same age and enjoy hanging around with each other, and it makes photographing cousins a joy!  This was definitely the case with the crew we’re about to show you.  We have had half of them (the local half) in the studio before around Halloween time for photos, but the other half live out of town so we hadn’t had the pleasure of meeting them before.  They are a beautiful bunch and they belong to one of our mall neighbors – they are Nancy’s grandchildren from across the hall at Nancy’s Linens!  And talk about prepared kids….they were coordinated nicely with the clothes and they had plenty to say about what photos and poses they had planned for their photo session!  There was even a written out list involved!

We did this session on location at the house of the “local crew” and we did a few rounds of individual photos, sibling group shots and group shots of the whole squad!  The conditions were just perfect that morning for a photo session.  Let’s start with the siblings…

The goal here was to have some fun and not get too formal – just to get some photos of kids being kids and cousins being cousins and the swing set was a perfect prop to get everyone into place!  We love this last one we’ll leave you with with the youngest of the group on the oldest’s shoulders….  Everyone looks fantastic!

Sal Was Smashing On His Birthday! It’s How He Looked And What He Did!

Sal is a smashing young lad to be sure.  We were excited to get this call since we have photographed many members of Sal’s family before including his two older siblings, but this was our first time photographing Sal.  And….we got to do it ON his first birthday!  What an honor to be able to spend some time with someone on their very first birthday!!!  That’s about as good as it gets.  We photograph plenty of first birthday sessions but they aren’t always on the day of their birthday so this was very cool.  Oh – and yes there is a cake smash – an epic one at that which we’ll save until the end…  🙂

We started on location and Sal arrived displaying a real sense of fashion!  The kid looked fantastic!  Haha…  We went to one of our favorite spots and started on the bridge and Sal turned it on immediately!  Check him out:
