Siblings Bubbles and Flowers!

Siblings bubbles and flowers can’t possibly be anything but pure wonderful right?  Right!  You may remember a post from back in December where we presented a family that was growing “right before our eyes” with maternity photos followed by the beautiful new little baby with her family?  Well they are back and a lot can happen in 6 months…  🙂

Siblings Bubbles and Flowers

Yes indeed babies bloom!  We love our little 6 month flower pot babies.  This little one was one of the easiest newborns to photograph we ever had and she was a joy again this time around!  Six months is a great milestone and we especially love it when the six month old brings an older sibling back with her!  Big brother did such an awesome job in this session!  Mom and Dad were not sure he would be totally into sitting in the right spot and posing for the pictures together with his sister but he totally rocked it.  It did not hurt that this little guy has an affinity for bubbles, and the parents were prepared.  Take a look at this little behind the scenes vine of the fun and check out her face while you do!  Priceless.

A Family Session With Four At Five And Under!

A family session with four at five and under can pose a challenge on paper no doubt, and Ally loves a challenge!  Of course we do a lot of planning and take plenty of time to make sure we get the photos we need, and when the kids are well behaved and cooperative that certainly helps.  There is a fine line however – “well-behaved” at a young age can mean “not allowed to be kids and have fun” if you’re not careful, and we do want to capture their personalities.  This particular crew struck the perfect balance – they had plenty of fun, but they also listened and stood where we needed when we needed and we were able to get great results!

Four At Five And Under

Such a fun family!  We would be remiss if we did not mention that we have met Rabbi Yarden before since our daughter has volunteered at Friendship Circle for some time now – an outstanding organization that is doing phenomenal things around the globe.  If you are not familiar with Friendship Circle I encourage you to take a look at the important work they are doing for people with special needs.  He and his wife Bayla are both on staff there so it was nice to have them and their family here.  This vine should give you a little behind the scenes flavor of how this session went…

Persistence Paid Off With This Happy Family!

Yes persistence paid off with this happy family!  Sometimes life, scheduling and various circumstances can get in the way of a scheduled photo session.  What are you going to do?  Sometimes it happens and that is just the way it goes!  This fun family was supposed to come to the studio once before but it didn’t end up working out.  We stayed in touch and ended up getting it rescheduled.   Then, the day before the session a minor sports injury occurred which threatened to “leave a mark” on one of the boys the day before the shoot!  Could the session be foiled again?

persistence paid off

Well as you can see by the fun family photo above the little guy shook it off and we were able to do the session without even resorting to any injury retouching!  I am not even going to tell you which brother it was!  Nothing to see here people!  Nothing to see that is other than just great pictures!  We hope you enjoy these sneak peeks.  Next we have a couple of individual shots of these handsome young men.  We like the way these look in black and white of both little brother and big brother:

Next we have a fun behind the scenes vine and as you can see we worked with several cute poses!

Kloe Melted Our Hearts!

We met a beautiful and amazing little girl named Kloe and yes, Kloe melted our hearts!  Kloe’s parents saw the wonderful piece done on our studio by Kam Carman on Fox 2 Detroit about photographing children with special needs and called our studio.  If you have not seen that feature you can watch it here.  Kloe has physical challenges that most people do not have, but you would never know it by her sunny outlook and her pretty smile.

Kloe Melted Our Hearts

We knew Kloe was special from the moment she came in with her parents for the consultation ahead of the photo shoot, and Kloe actually prepared for this session by practicing her poses in the weeks leading up to her photo session!  We had a great time – we put on music from the movie Frozen (very popular lately in our studio as you can imagine) and she was singing along.  She knew all the words to her favorite songs – so cute!  We started out on the white background as you can see above with some shots of Kloe by herself.  Kloe’s parents both got into the act as well.  We loved watching Kloe give her parents hugs and kisses over and over and over and we love these next two photos:

As is our usual habit here we captured a nice little behind-the-scenes vine of the action to share some of the fun:

Now we will share with you a photo of where we bumped it up a notch – not sure we have words for this one… well maybe one word – LOVE!!!

Kloe Melted Our Hearts

What a little rockstar!  We are so happy to know Kloe.  We look forward to more times together and watching her grow up!  Kloe melted our hearts without a doubt!

Milian, Milton, and a Million Smiles!

Milian, Milton, and a million smiles seemed like the perfect title for this post, since 6 year old Milian had us cracking up in amazement the whole time he was here.  I don’t think we have ever met a kid like this at his age.  He is like a little prodigy!  He has a sense of humor and an ability to carry on a conversation that plenty of adults are incapable of.  Such a cool kid!

Milian, Milton, and a Million Smiles

We focused mainly on the little man for most of the session before dad Milton jumped in for a few pictures together.  We started out on the white background and we actually posted two vines from this session – like I said, we were having fun!  Ally did not really need to give Milian a lot of direction.  Really we just needed to put on some music and away he went.  Milian was in charge of the music – heck, he was in charge of the whole session!  This vine is the behind the scenes clip from the photo above!

Sibling Photos: A Dapper Dude and a Baby Blossom!

We have been really excited to get these sneak peeks up on the blog of “a dapper dude and a baby blossom”!  Such a precious session with these little siblings and they were a total pleasure to work with.  Very sweet and well behaved, they followed instructions like champs!

We started off by getting some photos of the two of them together on the white background.  Our dapper dude was styling with his sport coat and tie and his little sister was looking pretty in pink with the flower headband and flowery dress.  Flowers were definitely a strong theme for this session and if you have been a regular here on our blog you probably can guess where we are going with that….a dapper dude and a baby blossom

The white always looks great – nice and simple and can be displayed pretty much anywhere.  Next we moved to the black background and the kids changed up their look a little.  We love the red dress in particular against the black – it just pops and both brother and sister are beaming!  Big brother looks really proud and happy to be with his little sis!a dapper dude and a baby blossom

Next we gave our dapper dude a moment in the spotlight for himself…  That smile!

Here we have a fun little behind the scenes vine of the session which will give you a precious peek into the flowery fun that came next…

Needless to say we never get tired of the flower pot babies.  How could we?  These make us smile every time and the little ones always seem to have a lot of fun being in the pot while everyone is smiling laughing and cheering for them!  They are perfect for right around the 6 month milestone or slightly after as long as they are sitting up.a dapper dude and a baby blossom

All in all we had a really memorable time with our little friends and their mommy and grandma here at our studio!  We hope these made you smile too!

Fox 2 Detroit Stops By For A Story On A Special Little Boy!

We have photographed quite a few children with special needs, and we have always found that special needs children make for very special photo sessions.  When Kam Carman from Fox 2 Detroit contacted us to do a story about photographing special needs children we arranged for a perfect little child for the story.  Conner is the cutest, most outgoing and lovable little boy you could ever meet.Fox 2 Detroit feature on photographing children with special needs

We approached this like any other session – we started with a consultation to meet Conner and his parents so we could get to know him ahead of the photo shoot and so he could get comfortable with us.  We fell in love with this kid right away.  Conner has cerebral palsy and speaks with a stutter but he certainly doesn’t let what most of us would consider challenges like those hold him back.  He’s a very engaging and fun 5 year old, and his little sister got into the act as well!Sibling PortraitChild Portrait

As for the day of the shoot, it was very exciting.  We had been mentioned on “Kam’s Corner” once before in a feature on the Orchard Mall so we’ve gotten to know her a little and we are big fans of “The Nine” morning show on Fox 2 Detroit.  Kam arrived with her videographer and they captured some footage of Ally photographing Conner which was really neat.  Conner was excited – he told his friends all about how he was going to be on TV and he got to leave school a little early.  When he arrived he practically knocked Ally over running to her and giving her a huge hug!  Conner had a blast and he especially loved pushing the button to flash the lights which you can see in the feature.  Then Kam interviewed Conner’s mom and Ally to wrap it up.  Click HERE to watch the feature from the broadcast!

So fun!  Here is a little behind-the-scenes vine of Ally’s interview:

Lastly, let’s get back to Conner – here are a couple other yummy photos of this awesome dude…  Enjoy!Fox 2 Detroit feature on photographing kids with special needsChild Portrait

Ally’s Niece Gets Her Turn In The Spotlight!

Hi it’s Ally here!  It’s pretty rare that I write blog posts – I usually let Doug do that because I think he just does it better.  But this time, I had to take his job over.  Just for a bit…..

Child Portrait
See, this is my niece.  She is three and I affectionately call her my “demon baby.”  I don’t call her a demon because she is BAD per se, but because from the moment she was born, she has just been very strong willed and opinionated.  She just plain cracks me up.  Remember that poem, “There once was a little girl, who had a little curl, right in the middle of her forehead.”  Well, that’s my demon baby.  When she is good, she is very good (and crazy sweet!)  But when she is bad, she is horrid!!!  But she is the kind of “horrid” that makes you laugh!  She is so funny!!!

This was just a mini impromptu photo session with her and I think she did pretty well!  Except that we did get into a little fight.  I wanted her to wear the pretty blue sparkly hat with the pink flower.  Or even the silver hat!  But NOOOO….she wanted to wear the simple beige hat.  I guess sometimes you just need to pick your battles.  And heaven forbid we put down the sucker for a minute!!!!  At least she is cute!!!!!

And who knows!?  We have photos of her big brothers in the studio.  Maybe it is time for the demon baby to make her public Frameable Faces debut too on our wall somewhere!  It will be so hard for me to pick a favorite though.  There are just too many yummy delicious images to choose from!  So, Frameables, meet my most favorite, prettiest and sweetest “demon.”  Enjoy her deliciousness!!!!!

Pretty In Pink….and With Grandparents!

More people should do this type of session!  It is just really nice for a couple to have photos done with their grandchildren, and for these two they were thrilled to be here with their first grandchild and to have a session with just the three of them together!

Here is a fun behind-the-scenes vine of the session:

Finally our true little star of the show got her closeup – it’s important to accessorize…  🙂  Enjoy!

Old Friends, Fun Brothers, Fun Family!

When old friends come in for a session from out of town it makes for a pretty special time. We get close to many of our clients who then become friends but there is something really great about having friends that you go way back with (like a couple of decades – we’re getting old) to college days here in the studio for photos.  Let’s start with a great family shot…
