Pretty In Pink….and With Grandparents!

More people should do this type of session!  It is just really nice for a couple to have photos done with their grandchildren, and for these two they were thrilled to be here with their first grandchild and to have a session with just the three of them together!

Finally our true little star of the show got her closeup – it’s important to accessorize…  🙂  Enjoy!

Old Friends, Fun Brothers, Fun Family!

When old friends come in for a session from out of town it makes for a pretty special time. We get close to many of our clients who then become friends but there is something really great about having friends that you go way back with (like a couple of decades – we’re getting old) to college days here in the studio for photos.  Let’s start with a great family shot…

An A-MAIZE-ing Family Session!

We love themed sessions!  Donning gear of your favorite alma mater is a popular way to go and it was not the first time a family wore the Maize and Blue in our studio.  It was fitting since it was the day before THE GAME against Ohio!  The Wolverines may have come up just short in an epic edition of the rivalry this year, but this session was still definitely a winner!

We had all three family units here – Grandparents along with their kids and grandchildren in town from two different cities out of state.  We snuck a couple shots of one pair of siblings in cute casual clothes first and here is one of them…

Then it was time to break out the maize and blue!  Here’s a great photo of the proud grandparents with all of their grandchildren around them.  We had The Victors blasting here in the studio – HAIL!!!

The second group of siblings were up next with their Michigan gear:

Then it was time to get each group of siblings with their parents into the mix.  A great time for all and we all felt like “Leaders and Best” on this day!

Traditional Clothing Makes Us So Happy!

It is such a treasure to be exposed to different cultures especially when it includes the traditional dress of that culture.  This family wore some of the most beautiful and colorful clothing you will ever see – a portrait photographer’s dream!!!  Before we get to that though let’s take a look at them in formal wear – a handsome bunch!

Family Photo

Not only are they a spectacular looking family but they were a joy to be around!  Very nice, fun and polite young men were these three boys!

Brothers

We learned a lot getting to know these folks about the country they are originally from and we tried to make them promise to take us along the next time they make a trip to Africa…  haha!

Here is a behind-the-scenes vine of the proceedings once they changed clothes with the brown background…   🙂

…as well as a stunning result with the red background, and how gorgeous is this mom!

We can’t say enough about this family – we hope you’ve enjoyed these photos!

A Growing Family – Right Before Our Eyes!

This was a very special pair of photo sessions!  This family came in just two days before the due date of the new baby girl’s arrival into the world!  Maternity sessions are so beautiful and this one was no exception.  Then five days later they came back on the way from the hospital with the baby!  A brand new three day old newborn!  Love, LOVE, LOVE!!!

Family Portrait (maternity)

First for the maternity session…  Anticipation was high and they knew that a baby girl was coming so pink was the theme!  Ally always says guys look great in pink and this baby girl will have several men to look out for her who were pretty excited for her arrival!  Here are a couple peeks from the session:

Then a few days later we got the call that the little princess had arrived and that they would be coming straight here from the hospital on her third day – we were so excited!  And not only was she a beautiful baby, but this was the easiest newborn session we have EVER had.  She slept almost the whole time and didn’t even poop during the session once!  🙂  This baby had the most pleasant disposition we have encountered.  Take a look!

Rachel’s Session Was Worth The Wait!

We had been on a perfect weather streak this year for our class of 2014 seniors like never before with no rainouts until the last couple weeks when we were rained out three times.  Rachel’s original day had to be completely rescheduled, but as they say patience is a virtue and we got a perfect day for a great girl who really deserved it on the second try!

A Family Affair

We started at the studio and Rachel’s siblings jumped in for a couple of fantastic shots before we headed out on location.  Lots of fun to see these three together with the girls having some fun with their baby brother…

Then we headed out on location and the conditions were just right.  Rachel looked fantastic in some really nice fall settings – you can see some great fall color in this shot…

…and here’s a little behind the scenes vine from the session.  🙂

All in all we had a great time together and we think you will agree that Rachel’s session was absolutely worth the wait!

A Wonderful Family Of Four…..For Now

As you can see this crew of 4 will not be 4 for long….  child #3 is on the way!

Family Photo

Meanwhile we love a challenge.  Especially the type of challenge like “I just hope you can get one good shot – we’re not sure if our kids will sit for very long”.  As parents we’ve always said that while we prefer our kids to be well behaved at home as well as out, that it’s always more important that they be polite, nice and well behaved for other adults.  Some kids when they are little go through phases where they listen better and then maybe sometimes not so much.  Well these two little ones were perfect for this session!  They did a great job!!!

Picture of Cute Siblings

We were able to get a ton of great shots!  We used a couple different set ups as well – not all of which you’ll see here but they had a good time with all of it.  They were very cute on one of our little benches too as this fun vine shows…

All in all it was a very successful day!  Here are a couple more highlights from the session – enjoy!

Life Is Yummy When You’re One And Surrounded By Family

What we have here is one beautiful family!  The baby was about to turn one which is always a great milestone for pictures…..and a cake smash of course!  More on that later…

Aren’t they a great looking crew?  The brothers are really nice young men as well!

Now for the baby!  How cute is she???

Anticipation Was High…. And This Family Delivered!

These folks are not strangers to our studio since the oldest son was one of our first high school spokesmodels (more on that in a future blog post), but we hadn’t had them in here for a family session….

Family Portrait - "The Hug"

We’ve known them for a long time so the anticipation was high for this one!  🙂  Needless to say this appointment did not disappoint – they totally delivered with great smiles, great interaction, lots of laughs and ultimately some great photos!  They are a wonderful family – impressive young men and top notch parents.  We had a lot of fun with them and we hope you enjoy these images from their session!

A Family Finally Completed

The last time we photographed this family they were a family of 4.  Now they’re a family of 5 and what a journey they took to get here.  After a very sad and extremely dangerous episode a few years ago that resulted in the loss of the baby that would have completed their family along with the ability to have any more children, some time passed and they never quite felt like they were complete.  They were happy but something told them they were still meant to be a family of 5 all the same, so first they healed, then they talked, then they dreamed, and then they hoped for the opportunity to adopt and bring another life into their home and their family.

They took the steps needed to adopt and first they looked to Russia.  Plans were made.  A lot of time, effort and emotion was invested into this and they were going to need to take three trips in all to Russia to find and bring home their daughter.  And then…. their hopes were temporarily squashed by Vladimir Putin when he signed an anti-U.S. adoption bill on December 28th, 2012 banning the adoption of Russian children by U.S. families effective January 1, 2013.  Luckily they hadn’t taken the first trip to Russia yet, but this was still a setback to be sure.

So back to the drawing board they went to find a baby girl here in the states, and after 5 anxious months the journey finally led them to Utah where they found their beautiful daughter!  They brought her home to her new and excited siblings and they all came to the studio shortly thereafter.  They are finally complete and we are so happy for them!
