A Calm, Cool & Confident Senior – Joseph Is No Joke!

Not that he would be anyway for any reason, but no – Joseph is no joke!  The guy called and scheduled his senior session himself – he came in earlier in the school year to do his yearbook headshot just under the deadline and we planned out the rest together.  So right off the bat he showed some responsibility that not all high school seniors display.  Plus he’s just a soft spoken but plenty cool and confident dude and we enjoyed hanging out with him a lot.

Calm, Cool & Confident – no joke…

We started out in the studio and went with the blue / grey background which we really like.  Here’s an up close and personal shot of our guy in a snappy casual look:

No Joke

Now just because Joseph handled the plans for this session doesn’t mean that his mom Eleanor wasn’t involved – she came on the session and she got into a couple shots!  She’s a sweetheart and here’s a nice one of senior and mom together!

No Joke

How cute are they?

Okay now it was time to head outside for some location photos at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills, and we did a little behind the scenes on Facebook Live while we were there…

It was a little chilly but the lighting was fine and we got a couple of great photos…  First on the rocks – and we’re digging the pink shirt!

No Joke

We’ll leave you with one more against the picket fence – you can see the confidence with this young man!

No Joke

And there you have it – Joseph is certainly no joke and we were glad to have him at our studio!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with him and Eleanor!

KICKING OFF Class of 2018 Spokesmodels with Olivia! BEAUTY & BEAST!

When we say we’re kicking off our class of 2018 spokesmodels we actually mean we’re kicking it off!  With a kicker – a female kicker!  We are thrilled to have Olivia representing our studio and this is always an exciting time for us as we start to look towards the upcoming senior class which we’ll start photographing in earnest this summer.  Some our favorite people of all time and very close friends started out as spokesmodels going all the way back to the graduating class of 2009 and we’ve already become fast friends with Olivia and her mom Liz.  But first let’s back up a bit to the fall of 2015 in the bleachers of Bloomfield Hills High School…

“Check It Out!  How Cool Is That?”

Our son Tony plays football at BHHS and when he first went out for the team as a freshman we were at one of his games sitting in the bleachers.  The freshman team was down on the field and they play before the JV so the JV came up into the bleachers to wait and watch until their turn came.  Ally being a nervous mom saw the size of some of the sophomores walking past and then….Olivia comes walking by in her pads and Ally and I said to each other “Check it out!  How cute is she?  And how COOL is that?”  There were no girls on the football team to speak of back in our day.  You see it more now but it’s still not that common and we think you need to be a pretty cool girl to be able to hang on a team of guys, and be a kicker where all eyes are on you every time you take the field to begin with!

Needless to say our wheels started turning back then as they often do when we’re on the lookout for spokesmodels.  So flash forward to the varsity banquet at the end of Tony’s JV season a couple months ago and there is Olivia looking stunning, so we texted a couple people during dinner to ask about Olivia and we were given the thumbs up.  Ally makes a break for it.  So creepy right?  Like, “we’ve had our eye on you for years and we want you to be a spokesmodel for our studio”!!!  Haha!  But we still had to see if she was actually interested, meet her and her mom at the studio and make sure it was a fit for everyone.  So sure enough Olivia called and said she would be interested and when she and Liz arrived we fell in love with them immediately.  Such sweethearts both of them!!!

Kicking Off With Olivia…

While we may be kicking off the proceedings we should also mention that Olivia plays lacrosse and she’s nice and she’s smart – she’s the whole package.  But before we get to the beast part we started off with the beauty part of the session….  First we’ll share this one on the brown backdrop – we find the brown to be a great option to go with pink – a good color combo for this year.

Kicking Off

We actually played around with a few different backdrops and combinations as we usually do with our spokesmodels and you can see some of the behind the scenes fun here…  Let’s start with the replay of our Snapchat story from the day which ends with the “squad selfie”!  ūüôā

Next we have the replay of our live Periscope broadcast – if you aren’t following us on Periscope and want to join in the fun and be a part of our shows download the app and follow us at @frameablefaces, or you can watch from your browser and/or on Twitter too!

Now let’s take a look at some of the photos we did on the black backdrop.  First we have this relaxed and fun shot on our black couch – black on black anything looks cool when it’s lit properly and we are looking forward to more of our black couch which is still a relatively new addition here on the black background.

Kicking Off

Plenty of Beauty right?  Now time for beast…

What’s fun about these next couple of shots is that it was actually hard to get Olivia to keep a straight face, because as much of a bad ass as she is, she’s actually very humble and sweet and she was giggling.  Haha!

Kicking Off

How awesome is that shot???  The football / lacrosse mashup!

Let’s take another look at some behind the scenes fun with more live video this time from Facebook Live:

And now one more lit photo in beast mode….

Kicking Off

AWESOME!  What a way to be kicking off the class of 2018 spokesmodel sessions!  Much more to come from our new crew which is starting to shape up to be a very strong class!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from our time with Olivia!  Stay tuned….

We Are Loving Lacey And We Couldn’t Be More Proud!

This isn’t the first time I’ve written about our daughter Lacey on this blog.  She represented our studio this year as a senior spokesmodel and we already did one epic session with her in downtown Detroit.  This time around it’s her senior session and it’s a good thing I’m writing this post because if Ally tried she’d probably be an emotional mess.  It goes fast – really fast, and here we are – it’s been 17 and a half years that we’ve been loving Lacey and we couldn’t be more proud!

Loving Lacey…

So for this session we had a connection that gave us a green light to photograph at Cranbrook where we are not typically allowed to photograph so we took advantage of it.  It was a great day!  We even had our would-be-intern Brittney with us even though she’s leaving us to move to Colorado… (we’re so bummed) but not before she documented our day with Lacey in a unique way which we hope to share soon, so stay tuned…

Meanwhile we started in the studio to do a few shots so let’s look at those first on the grey paper background:

Loving Lacey

That’s our girl!

Of course we have some fun behind the scenes for you first from the replay of the Periscope live stream broadcast.  If you want to be a part of future broadcasts and haven’t downloaded the app yet you can do so and follow us at @FrameableFaces at this link, or if you prefer to just watch from twitter you can do that here.

Here’s one more from the studio of Lacey with a cute red hat!

Loving Lacey

At this point it was time to head out and get some fall colors on this nice crisp November day of which there were some great ones!

This is one of our faves…

Loving Lacey

Here’s another broadcast replay from the location – this time on Facebook Live!

And here we have one more from outside:

Loving Lacey

I’m biased but I do love that smile…  So yes we are loving Lacey and always will be.  Don’t be surprised if there is yet another session (or two) of this girl before her senior year is done.  Ha!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with our girl!

Hey Hey Haley – Your Senior Pictures Are Highly Awesome!

Hey hey Haley!  We are excited to have this girl on our blog!  Another long time friend of our daughter’s whom we’ve known for years, Haley is a sweetheart and our families are friends.  So this was another one of those surreal sessions which seems to be a recurring theme this year….  lol!  This session was complete with several wildlife adventures and provided for plenty of hilarity and some hiccups – like actual hiccups!  But at the end of the day it was about the photos and it was about Haley so let’s get to the pics shall we?

Hey Hey Haley!

We started in the studio with one of our fancy chairs and the black background – love this!

Hey Hey Haley

She looks amazing!

We didn’t spend a ton of time in the studio but we do have a behind the scenes broadcast replay from inside that we did on Periscope – you can download the app and follow us at @FrameableFaces at this link or you can just watch from Twitter here.

Time to head outside…

Hey Hey HaleyWe love these types of photos in the meadow – we had just a hint of fall pop in the background and the lighting was really nice – the conditions were great that day!  We have plenty of behind the scenes from the location(s) too, starting with a broadcast replay from Facebook Live:

Before we get to the last couple of photos we are including here the Snapchat story from the session because, well…..it’s funny (remember I said something about wildlife adventures)!  Plus you’ll also see where the fam jumped in for a photo!  Stuart, Donna and Maddy!

Here’s another fab photo from outside…

Hey Hey Haley

Sooooo pretty!

One more broadcast…

….and one more photo of Haley!

Hey Hey Haley

Yasssssss!

So once again we say hey hey Haley – your session was highly awesome!  We hope you all enjoyed the highlights from our day with Haley!

We Wouldn’t Josh Ya…Okay Maybe We Would – Here He Is!

Those of you who know us here know that we wouldn’t “Josh ya” – right? ¬†Okay well maybe we would and actually that’s what we’re doing in this post right now! ¬†We bring to you….Josh! ¬†We have known Josh for a long time and he and our daughter Lacey have been friends for years. ¬†We also photographed his older brother Matt for his senior portraits so a little reprise with their mom Gayle was in order and we had a lot of fun and laughs as expected!

Time To Josh Ya…

We had a game plan to do some photos in studio and some on location so let’s start in the studio with the formal look on the grey backdrop!

Josh Ya

Now that’s a fine looking dude.

We also have plenty of behind the scenes live video for you on replay! ¬†Here is the first of a couple Periscopes we did – this one in the studio. ¬†If you don’t have Periscope and you want to join our shows and participate you can download the app and follow us at @FrameableFaces here and if you have twitter and just want to watch from there you can do that too.

Josh is a hockey player too so he changed into his Little Caesars jersey for this next one:

Josh Ya

Nice!

At this point it was time to head out to Heritage Park for some location shots and some more live video!  First again with Periscope.

Here’s one of the location photos which came out quite nicely – Josh was a breeze to work with!

Josh Ya

One more live video this time from Facebook for some more behind the scenes:

And one final photo up close with our man of the hour…

Josh Ya

Sweet! ¬†So there you have it! ¬†We decided to Josh Ya and we don’t feel bad about it one bit. ¬†We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with him!

Haven Is A Fashion Maven Which She Proved On Her Senior Session!

Haven is indeed a fashion maven and she proved it on her senior session.  Let me explain:

Fashion Maven

Some posts just write themselves…. ¬†We’ve had awesome style and fashion from our seniors this year and with Haven we were not surprised – she has represented our studio for the class of 2017 as a spokesmodel (just like her sister Jubilee did) and we love this girl! ¬†I thought it might be fun to rhyme Haven with maven and when I punched it into a Google search “fashion mavens” showed up right in the definition. ¬†Done deal!

Haven Is A Fashion Maven…

So we started this session with the always fashionable cheer uniform – ha, and I don’t mean that sarcastically at all. ¬†Haven actually had some great stuff in store for the location part of the shoot, but as for the studio we love us some purple, black and silver when it comes to those Bloomfield Hills Blackhawks!!! ¬†Whoo hooo!!!

Fashion Maven

And while we’re here in the studio here is the replay of our live Periscope behind the scenes broadcast! ¬†If you want to follow us from your smartphone and be a part of the shows in the live chat you can do that here, or if you just want to watch from twitter you can do that here.

Next we’ll head out on location¬†and check out this next photo – Ally was particularly impressed with the accessorizing, the boots, the whole thing!

Fashion Maven

We have another fun Periscope broadcast from the location too – here ya go…

Here’s where we found out how strong Haven’s hashtag game is…haha – well, we’ll just let the picture tell the story….

Fashion Maven

How great is that top?  Haven walked out with the #slay on and we knew she meant business!  Love it!

Here’s the Facebook Live broadcast from that moment!

We’ll leave you with one more fabulous photo from the day…

Fashion Maven

Spectacular!  We had such a great day with Haven our fashion maven and we hope you enjoyed the highlights from our day with her!

Jake Was The Symbol And The Superhero Of This Senior Session!

When Jake came in for his senior consultation with his mom Jen we proceeded to have a fun and healthy debate about superheroes. ¬†Now actually I’m not really a superhero guy and I quickly found out that I was pretty overmatched, but I think I hung in there…..kinda. ¬†In any event Jake is clearly inspired as millions are by superheroes – Batman and Iron Man in particular. ¬†So I went searching around and found this awesome quote from Batman Begins:

Bruce Wayne Quote

I think this quote is appropriate for this photo session for a couple of reasons… ¬†For starters I think this whole idea applies to photographs in general. ¬†Photos can preserve a moment, a person – they can be everlasting. ¬†That’s part of the appeal of what we do here whether we’re making new photos or restoring old ones. ¬†Senior pictures capture such a cool time in a young guy like Jake’s life! ¬†So hold on to that thought for a minute and we’ll come back to it…

Jake The Superhero!

Let’s start with the Batman inspiration in the studio for our first sneak peak…

Superhero

Awesome.

Here’s the behind the scenes vine from the day….

We also did plenty of broadcasting that day on Periscope and Facebook Live. ¬†Okay maybe we went a little crazy – I’ve actually done a collab with Jake’s mom Jen who is also known as Princess Pinky Girl online so she’s a natural on camera as was Jake! ¬†Much fun! ¬†If you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet you can do it and be a part of our broadcasts here or you can just watch on twitter here.

First in the studio:

Next it’s the first of our location broadcasts at Heritage Park:

And here is one of our shots of this fine young lad in the great outdoors…

Superhero

Let’s see a little more of our behind the scenes from Facebook Live – we actually spent a lot of time cracking up on this session… ¬†Jake is a funny dude.

And here we have a shot of Jake chillin’…

Superhero

Lastly I want to bring it back to that Batman quote from earlier. ¬†Here’s where it ties it all together….

Bruce Wayne said as a symbol he could be incorruptible. ¬†He could be everlasting. ¬†That’s what we achieved with Jake on this last photo which was a first for us, and an idea that Jen brought in. ¬†It’s a silhouette that captures the spirit of being a senior – with your life ahead of you. ¬†Incorruptible. ¬†Everlasting. ¬†Arms up to the sky! ¬†This photo could be anyone. ¬†You can’t necessarily tell it’s Jake, and yet it IS Jake. ¬†A symbol – and a powerful one at that….

Superhero

So cool….

Here’s the behind the scenes of us creating that photo!

And that’s the story! ¬†Jake was the symbol and the superhero and we will always remember this session! ¬†We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with him!

We Are Literally In Love With Lily And Her Senior Session!

Lily is easy to “fall in love” with – she’s just cool.  She gets it – outgoing, beautiful, really talented, smart, and a friend of our Lacey’s!  She’s the total package!  She has represented our studio this year as a spokesmodel for the class of 2017 and we’ve photographed her a few times now so we know it’s going to be a great day when Lily is in front of Ally’s camera!

It’s also a rare occasion that we have the opportunity to photograph a session at Cranbrook because you need to be an approved vendor or have some kind of special permission.  Cranbrook is obviously beautiful and with perfect weather (even if it was a little hot) the planets were aligned so to speak.  Lily definitely delivered and her mom Amy came with us too – she’s a delight.  So let’s get to some highlights of our day!

In Love With Lily…

This entire session was on location since we were able to get some nice studio stuff on Lily’s spokesmodel session already.  So let’s get to it…

Lily

Love this bridge by the Japanese gardens.  How cute is she?

By the way let’s take a look at some of the behind the scenes fun we had – first with a 6 second Vine for your looping pleasure…

We also have one Periscope broadcast to share but it wasn’t easy… there wasn’t much of a signal on Cranbrook’s campus so we only have the one replay here for your extended viewing!  You can watch our broadcasts at @FrameableFaces on Twitter here or join in the broadcasts on Periscope on your smartphone with the app here!

Now let’s get back to more photos!

Lily

Love it!

The lighting was fantastic for this next photo and we love the pose – Lily really rocked it – she’s a pro.

Lily

For the last photo we found a waterfall that was not easy to get to, but it was totally worth it – what a great spot!

Lily

Great one to end on!  Love this girl indeed and we hope you enjoyed the highlights from our day with Lily!

Kylie Killed It On Her Senior Session – Not Even Kinda Kidding

Kylie killed it on her senior session. ¬†What does that mean exactly? ¬†It means she owned it, slayed it, rocked it, kicked major butt, looked amazing, had fun – you know, all of that stuff. ¬†It wasn’t the first time Kylie had been in front of Ally’s camera since she used to come here to the studio for dance photos, but this was completely different. ¬†We planned this session out with an epic sprawl of locations, technique, timing, style and general awesomeness. ¬†Kylie’s mom Kelly joined us and we had a great time – we’ve been excited to show these!

First In The Studio…

We started out in the studio where we worked with our signature “black and blowy” setup which we love – sometimes black clothes against the black backdrop looks so cool when you know how to light it, and Kylie looks beautiful here…

Kylie Killed

Stunning!

Before we head out to the location photos let’s take a look at some of the behind the scenes fun from our day shall we? ¬†First we have our 6 second looping Vine:

Next we have the replay of our live Periscope / Twitter broadcasts for a more extended view of the session! ¬†If you haven’t downloaded the Periscope app or followed us on Twitter you can do that here and here.

First we have the studio broadcast…

And next the beach broadcast – really more of our walk to the beach – we’ll get to those photos in a sec…

Kylie Killed It…

So as you can tell the session got off to a good start in the studio and the location photos followed suit!  First we headed over to Birmingham to get a few photos in the city like this one:

Kylie Killed

Then to finish up we headed over to Dodge Park at Cass Lake to get a couple photos at the beach and with the water in the background – these are fabulous¬†and this was Kylie’s idea!

Kylie Killed

We’ll leave you with this one with a pretty sailboat that came right into the frame – very cool!

Kylie Killed

So yeah Kylie killed it as you can see, and we are thrilled with the results!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

Ryan Leads The Way For The Guys For The Class Of 2017!

Ryan’s session is the first official senior guy session for the class of 2017 and he definitely led the way in style! ¬†We have known Ryan for a long time but not well – one of those things where we’ve known his family and more specifically his mom Jodie going back to high school days. ¬†We photographed him before when we did family photos for them, but this was the first time we really hung out with Ryan for an extended time and we really had a lot of fun with him!

Focused dude…

One of the things that impressed us about Ryan (and you’ll see this if you watch the Periscope replay) is when asked by a couple of viewers of our live broadcast what subject he likes the most and what he wants to study he didn’t hesitate – just matter of factly answered “Econ” and “Business”. ¬†I didn’t really have a clue at that age, so kudos to Ryan! ¬†As for the session, he came solo and had two different dress shirts for the formal shots to go with the casual stuff. ¬†Totally prepared – clean cut and ready to rock (not just with the photos but the kid likes classic rock too – which instantly makes him cool). ¬†So let’s get ready to rock here, starting with our studio photos…

We started with the formal look with the grey fabric backdrop – this is a combo we like a lot!

Ryan Leads

GQ!  What a stud.

Next we moved to a little bit more of a casual look with a sweater for this one…

Ryan Leads

Looking good with the black background!

Before we head to the location photos let’s look at the behind the scenes action shall we? ¬†First with our fun 6 second looping Vine where Ally is having a little fun with Ryan – haha!

Even his Snapchat story was pretty epic which you can check out on Slinger at this link!

Next we have the replay of our live Periscope broadcasts from our YouTube channel for your extended viewing pleasure!  Download Periscope and follow us at @FrameableFaces and/or watch the broadcasts on Twitter!

Ryan Leads Us…To The Location!

Heritage Park is a great location for outdoor sessions and we got some great stuff with Ryan. ¬†This was a later session where we planned to get some off camera flash going and the results are fantastic…

First we have a nice close up with the barn in the background…

Ryan Leads

And lastly an off camera flash photo…

Ryan Leads

Cool!

And there you have it РRyan leads the way for the guys and we are really off and running with this senior class!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our time with Ryan!
