Happiness Is Photographing Hanna!

Happiness is photographing Hanna for sure – we first met Hanna and photographed her with her little brother about three years ago on location on a cold winter day, and we fell in love with all of them back then – what a great family!  So when they came back around to the studio to talk about Hanna’s senior pictures we were thrilled!  We planned a great day and we had nice weather too so everything was lined up just right, and Hanna looked beautiful!

We started off in the studio with our black background and the fan for our black and blowy look – we are big fans (no pun intended) of this pose where Hanna’s arms frame her face but her hair is still flowing outward…

Photographing Hanna

Love it.

Meanwhile we introduced a new edition to the studio in this next photo…  one of our new chairs!  Hanna led the way with the first photos on this exquisite piece so it will be known as “Hanna’s chair” going forward – if you follow this blog you know that’s how we roll.

Meanwhile here is our fun behind the scenes vine which leads us into the location part of the session!

Hanna’s session had a little of everything since we did some studio work, some photos in a natural setting in a park and some urban shots as well.  Let’s start with the pretty before we finish with the gritty.  Black-eyed Susans have been everywhere this year and we used a pretty patch of them here – Hanna’s flowery dress is totes appropes don’tcha think?

Lastly we moved into the city where the new color of the wall-formerly-known-as-the-white-wall was great for Hanna – love her confidence here:

And there you have it – nothing but pure happiness on this day with this girl!  We loved it – time flashed by since the last session when Hanna was but a freshman in high school and she is just as sweet now as she was then!

Awesomeness Abounds With Alexa!

Awesomeness abounds with Alexa when we get together.  We love this girl and we have been so happy to have her representing our studio this year as a spokesmodel.  We had her pegged back when we photographed her sister Jordyn two years ago for her senior photos and we wish we could photograph Alexa every 6 months!  For now we can be satisfied with the two awesome sessions we had with her this year – the spokesmodel session back in the winter which was all in the studio and her senior session which we split  between studio and location which we are proud to present to you here!

This was the last session of our crazy lucky week of weather that we’ve been talking about for the last several blog posts… once again the forecast wasn’t looking great but it didn’t matter.  Once again the weather was perfect for our awesomeness with Alexa!

Awesomeness abounds

Awesomeness indeed!  Love the backlight on her hair, the water, the dress, the pose – it’s all great.  Next we went to another spot with a bridge that we really like and got this shot of Alexa just sitting and being cute!

Awesomeness abounds

Here is our fun behind the scenes vine of the morning and these two photos in particular!

At this point it was time to head back to the studio where we played around with our damask background and our light blue, and definitely more awesomeness happened.  This would also be a good time to give a shout out to Shifra Raskin for the wonderful job on Alexa’s makeup down the hall at Style The Salon here in the Orchard Mall.  First let’s take a look at the photo against the damask backdrop…

Awesomeness abounds

…and lastly the blue.  This shot in particular we really love just because Alexa is clearly having so much fun here – we just love how she’s in this moment!

Awesomeness abounds

And so there it is – awesomeness all the way around!  We hope you enjoyed these – we certainly enjoyed our time with Alexa!

Noah’s Future Is Extremely Bright!

Noah’s future is extremely bright indeed!  Fresh from a summer studying out on the West Coast, we spent a morning with him for his senior session and found him to be a pretty impressive guy who really has it together.

Noah's Future

This was a session of firsts for us since we found a couple new spots that we had never used before.  For example the barn in the photo above we have photographed many times before but for whatever reason we had not ventured around to the back of it where this cool little wall is, and we love the broken wood down in the corner.  The photo works even better with Noah because he’s a tall guy, and we also love to position seniors off center on a wall like this.  As you will see in our behind the scenes vine below we’ll even have them “look off to their future” for the shot!!!  Haha!

See?  We told you he has a bright future!  We then grabbed a shot in between some nearby trees and we love the way this one turned out…

Noah's Future

Then we did a little venturing off the beaten path where we found the cool little bridge that you see in the vine.  It is a ground level bridge with a little creek running below it and it’s perfect!  Of course now it’s going to be “Noah’s bridge” going forward since that’s how we roll.

Noah's Future

So after a very successful outing on location we came back to the studio for a couple last shots and got this great one on the simple white background.

Noah's Future

Once again, we are glad we met Noah – great kid (not to mention great parents) and we look forward to big things from him.  We hope you enjoyed these photos from his session!

Alexa In The Senior Spokesmodel Spotlight!

As we put Alexa in the senior spokesmodel spotlight for the class of 2015 she continues the trend as the third straight one whose older sibling was a Frameable Faces senior!  Alexa’s sister Jordyn was featured in this post from the class of 2013 – she is the fifth one from the top lying down with her face towards Ally’s camera in a close crop.  We are big fans of these girls and we have been looking forward to photographing Alexa for a long time!  We can say without any doubt that it was worth the wait and we are so happy to have her representing our studio!

Alexa in the senior spokesmodel spotlight

We started out on the black background and we love the way the above photo turned out.  The shirt, the leather, the shoes – great combo.  Often the approach to a photo is a collaboration and the fashion is such a key part of a senior shoot.  The seniors bring a couple of suitcases of style.  Both Alexa and Sierra in this class said the exact same thing when they showed up for their sessions – “Okay I’m movin’ in!”  Then they go through the clothes with Ally who can help match the clothing with the photo set up.  Keep in mind for senior pictures we always meet with our senior ahead of time to go over strategy as well.  With our spokesmodels we can experiment a little more, but Alexa nailed that first look right out of the gate.

Alexa in the senior spokesmodel spotlight

Next we moved to our spotlight set above which we built last year and it has proven to be a popular one.  It is versatile too since we can make the spotlights different colors but for this session we went with standard white.  Love it!  After we finished with the spotlight we broke out some colors.  We started out with Alexa in a green dress against the pink background:

We were having fun and laughing a lot as you can see in this vine…  🙂

Leah – Senior Spokesmodeling In The Snow!

Since we photograph our senior spokesmodels from January to April we usually get a few spokesmodeling in the snow which is fine since there actually is a little demand for snow pictures every year.  This winter has been brutal and we have certainly been able to get all the snow shots we need already.  However no matter what the conditions are each year it is rare that a day lines up so perfectly where you can get nice big fluffy snowflakes fluttering gently down from the sky.  A day with no wind, not bitter cold – just right.  We had one of these days ordered up just for Leah!  But more on that later….

High School Spokesmodel

We started out in the studio so we could get some on the black background.  We used the black stool with the black once so far with this class but this look is a little different with Leah in black and crouching on the stool instead of sitting.  We are planning on using the black for every spokesmodel girl at least for a few shots even if we don’t end up showcasing them all because 1) we love the black and it is very popular, 2) it is a dramatic look and very versatile and 3) we may do something fun with all of these photos on the black when we’re done with the 2015 spokesmodels – we’ll see…  Meanwhile this next shot is a brand new look for us – a different take on being in the spotlight – literally!  We love the way this turned out.

High School Spokesmodel

We should also mention that hair and makeup for this session was done at The Beauty Lounge here in the Orchard Mall – hair by Tammy and makeup by Gloria.  They are right down the hall from our studio and The Beauty Lounge is one of three great salons here in the mall.  Next we broke out our cerulean blue backdrop and this next picture of Leah is just sweet and simple.

High School Senior Photo

At this point we were ready to go outside!

Here is a vine that will give you a little flavor of the studio portion of the session and then the winter wonderland we stepped into…

…now check this out!

spokesmodeling in the snow

We love the way Leah looks in the light dress against the white snow – white on white or black on black look great in the studio and the white on white looks great outside in the same way – it is an approach we have worked with in the past with great results, and it clearly worked again this time – spectacular!!!

Our “Mascot” Has Grown Into A Beautiful Young Lady!

When we first met Mara about 5 years ago she looked like this:

Frameable Faces Mascot

Such a cutie!  She used to dance across the hall from our studio when we first opened our space 5 years ago and she became a fixture at Frameable Faces – we called her our “mascot” and she would get dropped off early before dance class and hang out with us all the time.  I guess you could say that she never really left, and she has grown up and blossomed into one of our spokesmodels for the class of 2014.  For years we’ve talked about the day she would be a senior doing her senior pictures here…  She is like family and she is mistaken for our daughter all the time when she’s here – either that or an employee which prompted her to tweet the following recently:

So we guess you could say her senior photo session was about 5 years in the making, and it was epic!  Sprawled across two days first in the studio and then on location, it was totally worth the wait!  We spent the first day in the studio only since it was cold and rainy out, forcing us to reschedule the location portion of the shoot for another day.  Here are a couple studio highlights from day 1:

When the day came to finish up the session on location it was quite chilly out but at least it didn’t rain.  The outdoor session was fantastic!  Great location with bridges, water, trails and Mara looked beautiful!

We are so proud of our “mascot” and so pleased to present these awesome photos of her!  Enjoy!

Flash of Studio Light, Ray of Sunlight, Glow of Twilight, and Prettiness of Jamie!

This session had a little of everything – as the sun starts to set earlier later in the year we start getting afternoon sessions that give us beautiful lighting as the sun gets low in the sky and then some dusk, twilight, and evening photos where we can get creative with multiple tools and lighting techniques like off camera flash for example.

High School Senior Picture

As for our senior this time out….  Jamie looked radiant in all the settings and we especially like the photo above with the sun rays cascading over her.  Just gorgeous!

We began the session in the studio for some photos against the black backdrop – we love these!

Then we headed out on location – here’s a little behind the scenes vine of the action…  🙂

As the title of this post implies you could say that light turned out to be sort of a theme with Jamie’s session.  The twilight photos are quite spectacular – the sky was clear and we were able to get a shot with Jamie and a sliver of the moon which takes a little bit of advanced lighting technique.  We love the way this turned out!

High School Senior Picture

Overall we had a lot of fun with Jamie and her mom and Jamie did a fantastic job!  We hope you enjoy these!

Class of 2013 Frameables! Part 4!

Here we are with another round of awesome seniors from the currently-graduating class of 2013!  This has been a fantastic class and these young ladies and gentlemen continue to validate for us why we’ve chosen to do what we do.  Each one has been a pleasure to photograph and to get to know!  As their near-futures start to come into focus we look forward to following their post-high school careers!  Enjoy!

Class of 2014 Spokesmodel Party!

This year’s third annual spokesmodel party was a blast!  It’s definitely one of our favorite days of the year and the culmination of the planning, photographing, and getting to know our newest team!  Some of them we’ve known for years and some we’re just getting to know.  We’ve become very fond of each and every one of these seniors-to-be and to have them all at the studio wearing their Frameable Faces T-Shirts and hanging together is as good as it gets for us!

Our awesome team!

Just like last year we began the festivities with the debut of the new spokesmodel video with behind the scenes clips from the photo sessions and even a fun outtake at the end:

We then had dinner, and this year we had it catered by Pine Lake Market in Keego Harbor – the food was fantastic!  Then in keeping with tradition we ate Just Baked cupcakes.  Soooo good.

Our Just Baked Cupcakes!

Then we took some photos.  Everyone had picked up their t-shirts and spokesmodel cards which were laid out on the table when they arrived, and we took some team pictures first.

Frameable Faces Spokesmodel Swag!

Then it was everyone’s turn to do individual shots for the mural that goes in our window for the upcoming year which is always a lot of fun.  Look for that in about a month in our window and on Facebook.  There are actually some traditions within the murals emerging – like who will be the “jumpy girl”, who will be eating a Just Baked cupcake, which boy will be flexing his muscles, and who will do something that has not been done before?

All in all it was a great night and as we’ve said before, a great group of kids.

Class of 2014 Senior Spokesmodels Part 1!!!

We are excited to present a two part series of images of our new class of 2014 high school senior spokesmodels!  We couldn’t be happier with this wonderful group of young ladies and are very proud to have them representing Frameable Faces Photography for this upcoming school year!  Some of them we have just met recently and some we’ve known much longer – it’s hard to believe they will be seniors in a few short months!
