Real Awesomeness With Rachel On Her Senior Session!

Real awesomeness was what we experienced, really from the moment Rachel and her mom Wendy walked in the door for the first time!  We instantly fell in love with these two – the consultation went way longer than usual and we were laughing and having a blast.  We knew this session would rock!  Rachel is a cool girl – beautiful, really funny and she’s a North Farmington Raider like us!  We planned a great day with some studio work, some city stuff in Birmingham, and some pretty stuff too including a few shot with their golden lab Dude!

Real Awesomeness…

So let’s start with one shot from the studio before we head out.  This is one on the black background that I suggested to Ally might look great in a portrait crop instead of landscape – see what ya think…

Real AwesomenessLove it – especially the black clothing on the black background – people expect that you can’t really do that but if you light it properly it’s fantastic.

Before we head outside with the location photos let’s take a look at some of the behind the scenes action from the day.  First we have our 6 second looping Vine AND I’m also including our fun snapchat story while we’re at it.

Next we have our epic replays from our live Periscope broadcasts… these particular replays do not have the synced comments but they’re still fun especially when Wendy takes over to guest host a bit!  If you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet you can do so and follow us at @frameablefaces here.

To Birmingham…

At this point it’s time to check out the amazing awesomeness of the location photos.  First we have a couple in the city.  Here we go…

Real AwesomenessRight?  Wow.

And then there’s this…

Real Awesomeness

Nothing like perfect backlight and a perfectly timed breeze…  Rachel was really rockin’ it at this point…

Next we headed to a secluded spot along a stream that we love for this one we’ll leave you with!

Real Awesomeness

Yes this was real awesomeness alright…  We loved our day with Rachel!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of her session!

Blair’s Beautiful Wintry Blast of a Session!

Blair’s Beautiful Wintry Blast was…..well…..a blast!!!  We alluded to this before but this winter of 2015-2016 was a tricky one.  I say that because this winter there really was no winter.  We only had a few seniors who were waiting for snow to do their sessions and we literally had just enough days with snow to make it happen.  No extras at all – no room for error or rescheduling.  When we got our precious snow we had to scramble the troops and get outside to shoot!!!  We did luck out with Blair since the day that worked out for us saw plenty of snow on the ground from a snow fall two days earlier.  Not to mention that it was considerably warmer at this point, so the conditions worked out very nicely after all!  Blair deserved it because she is a total sweetheart, and I think her pups enjoyed it too as you’ll see in a bit!

Starting in the studio…

But before we get to the white stuff let’s start in the studio where we spent a little time before heading out on location.  First on the simple white backdrop:

Beautiful Wintry Blast

Love it!

Next we brought out the black backdrop for this one:

Beautiful Wintry Blast

Beautiful girl!!!

Okay now we have a little behind the scenes action from our day for your enjoyment.  First our fun 6 second looping vine:

Next we have the full replays of our live Periscope broadcasts from our YouTube channel for your extended viewing pleasure.  If you still haven’t downloaded Periscope you can do so and follow us at @frameablefaces at this link.  First the indoor scope:

And now the outdoor scope!

Beautiful Wintry Blast, Beautiful Senior

At this point using Blair’s home as a base we headed out into the commons area of the subdivision where she lives (also the one I grew up in) for some wintry photos, and for this first one we had a couple of furry family members join us!  Say hi to Kramer and Jelly!

Beautiful Wintry Blast

Love this photo!!!

Okay one last one of Blair having a little fun in the snow…

Beautiful Wintry Blast

So pretty!  And so there you have it!  Certainly a beautiful wintry blast of a session with a beautiful Blair!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from our day!

We Really Like-ah Mycah! Okay Actually We Love Her!

Yeah, to just say we “really like-ah” Mycah wasn’t enough.  We love her!  We fell in love with this girl the minute she walked into our studio the first time.  She’s just cool, and funny, and beautiful, and smart and – okay we could go on and on, but yeah – she fits in.  Instant connection.  The snowfall we had for this session was a little unexpected and yet it really did work out nicely.  We had a great time and Mycah just slayed (that means she did an amazing job)!

We Really Really Really Like-Ah Mycah…

So we started out on location at a nature preserve that we love and got a few shots there mainly with one outfit and a letter jacket addition which warmed our hearts because it was a dear old brown and gold North Farmington Raider jacket!  Go North!  Let’s take a look at these:

We Love Her

How stunning is she?

Next we have a little Raider Pride going on…..

We Love HerWe’ve been told Mycah is a heck of a track athlete….

At this point it was time to head back to the studio but before we do that let’s take a look at our behind the scenes fun from the day!  First with our 6 second looping Vine:

Next we have the replays of our Periscope broadcasts from our YouTube channel for you.  One outside and one in the studio!  If you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet (the 2015 app of the year) you can do so and follow us at @frameablefaces here.  Okay so first on location…

And now in the studio…

Okay Actually We Love Her…..!

So let’s take a look at a couple of amazing studio photos against the black backdrop.  Mycah looks fantastic in this red dress!

We Love Her

And last but not least we are really happy with the results of this black and white photo in our “black and blowy” set up!

We Love Her

Wow!

And that will do it for now!  You can get a sense for why we love her!  We hope you enjoyed these highlights from our day with Mycah…  Actually, you’ll see here as a little bonus she came back to visit a couple nights later while we were broadcasting at the studio and we made a little vine out of it!  Enjoy and we’ll see you soon!

The Torch Is Passed To Jake – Another Cohen Raider!

This is pretty cool.  Me and my brothers are at the ages where we have kids all coming up through high school and moving on to college, and last year we photographed our nephew Jared for his senior portraits.  This year we have another nephew – Jake, and Jake is the only one to carry on our tradition of Cohen boys playing football for the North Farmington Raiders.  Jake even wore his dad’s number 45 jersey which was a little surreal to see on Holland Field since I can remember watching my older brother Jeff wear that number on the same field when I was a kid.  So here we go with another Cohen Raider!

The Torch Is Passed…

With Jake we kept it indoors and relatively straightforward in the studio on the black background, and we’ll start there with a photo in just a nice casual outfit…

Another Cohen Raider

Before we proceed with some of our beloved Brown and Gold (and black and white) Raider photos, let’s take a look at some of the behind the scenes action.  First with our 6 second looping vine:

Next we have the replay of our Periscope broadcast with a minor disclaimer… for whatever reason my download of the actual broadcast from the app didn’t save, BUT we still have the raw video right here embedded in this post from our YouTube channel, OR you can watch the broadcast with the comments intact from our Katch.me page at this link.

Another Cohen Raider!

Okay now let’s get to some BROWN and GOLD!!!  Jake brought his jersey and his letter jacket for several shots and we love these…

Another Cohen Raider

This next one came out really nicely in black and white… fierce!

Another Cohen Raider

And here’s the final one we’ll share with you for now in the letter jacket…

Another Cohen Raider

Cool huh?  And there it is – another Cohen Raider gets it done.  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our photo session with Jake!

Awesome Senior Portraits Are Easy With Eli!

The goal with senior sessions is always awesomeness.  That’s the goal.  We reach that goal with awesome seniors which we are fortunate to have here at Frameable Faces, and awesomeness was easy with Eli.  Eli is a cool dude – we like him a lot!  He’s easy to work with, an engaging, funny, smart and good looking kid and he’s a North Farmington Raider just like us.  His mom Elysa came along for the session and she is a pleasure.  They have a great mom/son relationship and we had a blast on a beautiful Michigan fall day!

Easy With Eli…

So yes this session was easy working with Eli, and we started on location at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills.  We had some nice fall colors to work with and we’ll start there with our first photo from the day:

Easy With Eli

Good stuff.

Before we share the rest of our sneak peeks let’s take a look at our behind the scenes fun from the session first with our looping 6 second Vine:

Next we have the extended replay of our live Periscope broadcasts (part on location and part in studio) from our YouTube channel.  If you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet for your mobile device you can do so and watch our shows at @frameablefaces at this link:

Okay back to the photos with this up close and personal photo of Eli…

Easy With Eli

More good stuff right?

Back to the studio…

At this point it was time to head back to the studio where some real magic happened.  This black and white with Eli in the hoodie is fantastic:

Easy With Eli

And last but not least Eli switched into a suit and tie for the GQ look against our grey background…

Easy With Eli

Nailed it.

And so there you have it – excellence, awesomeness – call it whatever you want but it was all easy with Eli!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with him!

MAXing It Out On A Senior Session In The City!

Maxing it out is how we roll on senior sessions but this time we did it in the literal sense with one of our class of 2016 spokesmodels, Max!  You may remember Max’s spokesmodel session which was in the studio and on fire, and this time we changed it up and headed to downtown Pontiac for some gritty urban style.

Maxing it out…

We’ve known Max and his family for a long time and we laughed our butts off on this session.  Max’s mom Kim came with us and you’ll see her on our Periscope broadcast replay below if you want to watch the behind the scenes footage, but in the meantime let’s get to some photos and we’ll start briefly in the studio for a formal shot on the grey fabric background before we head outside…

Maxing It Out

The grey suit on the grey is such a cool look!

Before we head out to Pontiac let’s take a look at some of the behind the scenes action…  First with our fun looping 6 second vine:

Next we have the epic replay of our Periscope broadcast which was partly guest hosted by Max’s mom Kim!  We even pulled in a couple bystanders for comments at one point!  Haha… Check it out and be sure to download the app and follow us at @frameablefaces at this link:

Okay now let’s head to Pontiac!

To the city

Pontiac is always good for urban photos and we got some great stuff with Max…

Maxing It Out

Digging the hoodie on the stairs in the black and white….

Maxing It Out

Chillaxin’…

One more for you here in black and white:

Maxing It Out

So there you have it!  We definitely were MAXing it out on this day, and we hope you enjoyed the highlights!

Swift: Krushing The Senior Picture Game With Kirsh Daddy

Swift.

That’s all you have to say.  It’s Kirsh Daddy time and that’s the word of the day.  It’s actually Zack’s favorite word and if you hang with him for a while you’ll find yourself saying it too.  It’s basically another word for “cool” or “sweet”, and Zack is both, as well as a total character, so we were looking forward to this session for sure.

Kirsh Daddy…

Why is Zack known as Kirsh Daddy?  It’s hard to explain but it just fits, and we decided to start off Krushing the senior picture game in downtown Birmingham for some city shots.  Let’s start it off with our first top of the parking structure shot of the season:

Swift

Swift right?  That shot wasn’t actually part of the plan with the specs – they are transition lenses so they darken up when exposed to the light but we actually love the way that one came out.  It’s pure Kirsh Daddy Kool.

Next let’s take a look at our fun behind the scenes vine of our morning where you’ll get a glimpse of the fiery awesomeness that followed…

While we were shooting we broadcasted parts of the session live on Periscope – if you haven’t downloaded the app yet you can do it here, and you can follow us at @frameablefaces!  Here is the replay from our YouTube channel!

Swift…

Let’s get back to a couple more photos of our guy showing his happier gentler side…

Swift

And one more before we head back to the studio:

Swift

Alright now it’s time to head back to the studio for the fire shot that you saw us doing in the vine and the broadcast replay!

Swift

So there it is – a swift session Krushing it with Kirsh Daddy!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our morning with him!

Strike Up The Band For Christian’s Epic Senior Session!

Strike up the band because we’re about to share an EPIC senior session with Christian!  Christian is a North Farmington Raider just like us so we are always excited to photograph one of “our own”.  What a great family too!  We did some great planning for this one with Christian’s mom, his younger sister helped get him ready the day of the shoot, and his dad came along as well.  Christian’s dad is a veteran so we were honored to have him with us.

Strike up the band (and a match)…

We started the session in the studio where Christian’s family brought in the instruments and a clothing rack so we could get started, and we thought we’d add a little fire to the proceedings right off the bat.  While we used a lighter and not an actual match, match sounded better.  Haha!  Take a look:

Strike Up The Band

Yes that’s real fire – no photoshopped flames here…  don’t believe us?  Take a look at our fun behind the scenes vine of our evening with Christian and see for yourself!!!  🙂

For those who want to see a little more behind the scenes we broadcast a bit of the session on Periscope and here is the replay which includes comments from the viewers.  Download the app and follow us at @frameablefaces!

Epic happens…

Okay so let’s get back to the session and our whirlwind tour of Farmington Hills culminating at Holland Field which you saw in the broadcast.  First we stopped at Heritage Park for a couple shots including this one you saw us doing on the vine with the barn:

Strike Up The Band

Then we made a couple more quick stops including downtown Farmington to get the old Civic marquee in the background – our first time doing this shot and Christian rocked it!

Strike Up The Band

Love the way that one turned out!  And now we’ll leave you with the bleacher shot in full band gear with the use of a little off camera flash and the FJ Westcott Ice Light (or the light saber as we call it)!

Strike Up The Band

Overall an epic night with a great senior and a great family!  We are so glad we got to know Christian and his sister and parents!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our night with him!

Cyd’s Censational and Cpectacular Cenior Cession!

First things first – we fell in love with Cyd and we think it’s cool that she’s Cydney with a “C”, and so while we do know how to spell the words in our title properly we thought we’d “ceize” the opportunity to craft a unique title for her!  One that’s memorable, because her session was memorable and so is she!

Cpectacular Cenior

We are always impressed when a senior calls the studio themselves to coordinate and make the appointment, and when Cyd came in with her mom for the consultation and informed us that they are related to two of our favorite twin seniors from last year we knew we were in for a special session.  We did a quick few shots in the studio but Cyd was all about that nature, ’bout that nature, ’bout that nature – less studio.  Haha – so we ordered up a perfect sunny 77 degree day and headed to Quarton Lake in Birmingham.

Cpectacular Cenior

What a photo right?  She’s a total natural.

Cpectacular Cenior

Cyd has a great sense of style too – this is a great session for our seniors to get some ideas from for outfits and each photo today will feature a change of clothes.  You’ll also see from our fun behind the scenes vine a quick peek at the studio portion of Cyd’s session:

Meanwhile we did a live Periscope broadcast from the session and we have a couple of minutes of it to share with you from our YouTube channel (for some weird reason when we downloaded the replay a chunk of it cut out in the middle but it’s still fun).  Follow us on Periscope at @frameablefaces for more Frameable Faces TV!

Okay let’s get back to the photos shall we?

Cpectacular Cenior

Love that photo – the in-the-water shot is one of our favorites.

Okay one more with the waterfall in the background.  One of the cool things about this shot was the brand new trellis that was there!  We were at this spot a week before and it wasn’t there, so for us it’s going to be “Cyd’s Trellis” from now on (because that’s how we roll when a senior does something new – we name it after them).

Cpectacular Cenior

And so there it is.  Cyd’s censational and cpectacular cenior cession!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights!

Senior Photo Awesomeness Abounded With Arielle!

Yes senior photo awesomeness abounded with Arielle!  Her session was epic and we didn’t want it to end!  We are so hyped for the class of 2016 and what better way to officially kick off this class than with a North Farmington Raider, and a sweet, beautiful, smart and funny one at that!  Not to mention we’ve known Arielle for some time and she’s a friend of our daughter’s so we were looking forward to this session and knew it would be special.

Chilly but still near perfect morning…

As of this writing the session was supposed to happen the day before yesterday but we were rained out which has happened several times lately.  Yesterday the weather was cooperative and it was overcast with diffused light which is very easy to work with.  It could have been about 5 degrees warmer when we arrived at Quarton Lake in Birmingham but it was still fine.  Oh, and yes this session was yesterday.  This is extremely rare but Ally is actually caught up on sessions at the moment (kind of the calm before the senior storm) so the benefit of getting in early and having a fantastic session is that Ally dug right into the files and pulled out 4 right away for sneak peeks!  So let’s get to it…!

Awesomeness Abounded

So pretty!  Arielle just looks so happy and relaxed in the photo above.

Awesomeness Abounded With Arielle…

Here’s another one from the location part of the session with the water in the background:

Awesomeness Abounded

I know right?

Now let’s take a look at our behind the scenes vine from the day:

We also broadcasted a portion of the session live on Periscope so if you want to watch the replay of the broadcast you can see that below!

Back to the Studio

At this point it was time to head back to the studio to do Arielle’s yearbook headshot and a few photos on the black background.  And, you guessed it, more awesomeness abounded with Arielle!  Ha!  First she rocked our signature “black and blowy” pose:

Awesomeness Abounded

We’ll stay with one more highlight for now on the black background with a just a simple pretty smile.

Awesomeness Abounded

So there it is – the first official senior session of the class of 2016, and yes awesomeness abounded – with Arielle leading the way!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!
