We Wouldn’t Jest – Jake Jammed On His Senior Session!

No – we’re not here to jest.  We are totally serious.  Jake JAMMED on his senior session and that’s the truth!  This session was fantastic and we’re excited to show you the results!  We’ve known Jake and his family for years going back to little league baseball days when I coached our son Tony and Jake’s younger brother with Jake’s dad, and Jake’s mom Nancy joined us on the session – much fun!

Jake Jammed

We started off in the studio which we always do for afternoon sessions and we got off to a great start:

Jake Jammed

Great shot right?

We also have some behind the scenes fun here from the replays of our live broadcasts – first with Facebook Live:

And here is one more photo from the studio made during the video above:

Jake Jammed

Looking great!

At this point we headed out to Heritage Park – which as we have since found out is now restricting access for photographers… but that’s another story.  In the meantime we still love the place and you should visit there – it makes for great photos!

Jake Jammed

Let’s also take a look at our other video replay this time from YouTube Live.  You can also subscribe to our channel for plenty more videos where this came from!

We’ll leave you with one more photo from this killer session with Jake!

Jake Jammed

Awesome!  Jake jammed on his session for sure and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our time with him!

There’s nothing like one of those special and memorable family events – milestones by which we mark the stages of our lives and celebrate together like a Bar Mitzvah!  We have been honored to be a part of many of these since we brought our event photographer Angela on board, and Evrett’s Bar Mitzvah is no exception!  We have some highlights to share from this awesome celebration!

All In With Alena As She Represents Our Studio For The Class of 2018!

Yes we are all in with the idea of Alena representing our studio as a spokesmodel for the high school class of 2018!  She’s another North Farmington Raider and her mom Mindy was a Raider too just like us!  Her dad Loren is a Buckeye but it’s okay….. we still like him (haha).  Mindy and I go way back having grown up in the same neighborhood and I’ve always been a fan of hers so it’s really great to have this family in the fold!  Good people!

Alena and our Lacey are friends as well and when we met for Alena’s consultation we knew right away that this was going to be fun and we were right.  This session was fantastic – it was all in the studio and we played around with multiple backgrounds and colors.  Red hair is always fun to put on different backdrops and I swear we have had well above the 1-2% of the population average of redheads here at the studio!  Needless to say Alena upheld the tradition in fine style, and with that said let’s get to the photos!

All In With Alena

We started on the blue/grey backdrop to kick it off…

Alena

Wow!  Yeah Alena looks great and this session rocked…

We also have plenty of behind the scenes fun as always starting with the replay of our live Periscope broadcast – you can follow us on the app and join in the fun at @FrameableFaces at this link or you can just check the channel out on twitter here.

The next backdrop / wardrobe change we have to share is Alena in all black against the rich purple paper backdrop with the dark wood floor – it’s a winner with this playful pose!

Alena

Here is the Facebook Live replay where we were shooting on the purple – how fun is this girl by the way?  You’ll see in the broadcast!

This next shot is amazing – this patterned backdrop is just perfect with Alena’s hair – we love this…

Alena

And let’s leave you with one more black and white full length stunner on the white backdrop…

Alena

And there you have it – you can see why we’re all in with Alena – we are thrilled to have her represent our studio at North Farmington for our amazing class of 2018 spokesmodel crew!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights and we’ll leave you with our snap story from the day from our YouTube channel…

Charity Channels Her Inner Charm For Her Champion Senior Session!

Inner charm, outer beauty, inner beauty, outer charm – all of it – Charity channels it!  Charity is another North Farmington Raider which is always a bonus for us as fellow Raider alums and we had a fantastic session with her!  Charity had to be a champ because it was chilly out – really chilly (how many words can Doug squeeze into this blog post that begin with “ch”?).  But she stuck it out and delivered some pure awesomeness in Pontiac for some city shots before we made it back to the warm confines of the studio…  Let’s get to it!

Charity Channels Her Inner Charm…

Charity is a sweetie and a dancer too so she’s got a lot going for her.  Her mom Caren joined us as we headed out on location.  First we have this photo on the fire escape…

Charity Channels

Love this because her outfit blends right in with the colors around her for one thing, and she just looks happy and great all the way around.  We actually have plenty of behind the scenes to share as well, and we’ll start with the replay of the Periscope live broadcast.  You can download the app and be part of the fun at @FrameableFaces at this link or you can also just watch from twitter here.

I have to mention that there is an amazing moment on this broadcast where Caren got very emotional watching her girl have her senior pictures taken and like a reporter I took a risk and ran over to catch it and ask her how she was doing – it was a good cry and so sweet!  Caren was great sport about it too!

Awww…..

At this point we relocated for a wardrobe change to another spot on a different set of steps and had some great backlight going for this one.

Charity Channels

That lighting and that smile!

You would never know we were pretty cold by the results…. and at this point it was time to get back to the studio.

First we have a close up of our girl on the red paper backdrop which is one of our faves for sure.

Charity Channels

We also have more behind the scenes fun this time from the replay of our Facebook Live broadcast!

Here’s a dramatic black and white version of our “black and blowy” setup that we are in love with…

Charity Channels

And we’ll end it with the Snapchat story we posted that day – you should be following us there too!  Snap us back!

So there you have it!  When Charity channels her inner charm it comes through with wonderful outer results!  We hope you enjoyed our highlights from our day with her!

Ben Is Back And His Senior Session Was Another First For Us!

Yes Ben is back!  You may remember Ben from his spokesmodel photos representing the class of 2017 back in May, and now it’s time to share some highlights from his senior session – what was cool about this session (aside from Ben himself and his mom Gina who is a friend of ours) was that like the previous senior we just posted it was marked by a new location for us.  We had heard about Shiawassee Park in Farmington and driven past it over the years but we never thought to shoot there.  Well we can say now that it’s really nice and this was a great first for us!

Ben Is Back…

Don’t let the title mislead you by the way – Ben never “left” and we see Ben a lot actually, but this is his return to the blog and it starts with this shot in Farmington Hills:

Ben

Cool huh?  What a cool dude.

We also have plenty of behind the scenes fun from our day and while we are focusing on the location photos from the session here we also spent some time in the studio which you can see from this replay of our Periscope broadcast.  You can download the app and follow us there at this link, or you can just watch from Twitter at this link – either way be sure to follow us at @FrameableFaces!

Meanwhile we mentioned Shiawassee Park before and now it’s time to share a couple of photos from that location.  First with this neat spot at a bridge over the creek…

Ben

So awesome!!!  Ben and our daughter Lacey are pretty close friends so we know Ben pretty well and we were having fun at this point!  Ben is a cool guy too – he’s a pilot!  Yes – of planes…!

Here’s another, this time close up:

Ben

Here is the other behind the scenes broadcast we have to share – this time from Facebook Live!

Moving right along we left Shiawassee and headed to a blue door Ally had in mind, and we’ll leave you with this one…

BenDig it.

And that’s it!   Ben was back and in a big way – awesome times and a great session with this guy.  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day!

Exploring Detroit With Cady On An Epic Senior Session For The Ages!

All of our high school senior sessions are special – our entire approach is based on it.  We meet with our seniors ahead of time to get to know them and we photograph well under 100 of them so each one is a favorite in some sort of way.  But once in a while the planets align for a senior we’ve known for their entire life and a truly unique experience happens.  That was the case with Cady, and I’ll explain….

An Epic Senior Session…

For starters yes – we have known Cady literally since she was born.  Our families go back for decades so this had that surreal element to it to begin with, and then the session just got better and better from there.  We’ll get to some of that in a minute…  First we did a little studio work including the set up with our Victorian style red couch and the wooden floor – love this:

Cady

Beautiful!

Here is the behind the scenes replay from the Periscope broadcast we did during this setup.  If you want to join in future broadcasts and be a part of the fun you can do it from your smartphone here or you can just watch it from your computer at that link or on twitter.

Here’s a little bonus Facebook Live broadcast that we did of the black and blowy set up in the studio…

Exploring Detroit With Cady!

Here’s where things got even more awesome…  The more you photograph at a given location the better you get to know it and you start exploring a little.  You don’t need to pay attention to directions as much because you already know how to get there.  You can navigate the landscape with ease and let your eye wander towards new and exciting spots you didn’t see before.  We started at Belle Isle where we found some rocks by the water as well as a certain tree where the light was hitting just right and Cady was framed perfectly…

Cady

Wow!

From there we had plans to head over to Eastern Market to find some murals but we stopped in the Warehouse District because I had a hunch there might be some cool stuff down there….  well, there was.

Cady

LOVE this shot!!!

Here is the behind the scenes Periscope from this part of the session….

Now it was time to head over to the Eastern Market where we were going to seek out some cool murals, but we got way more than we bargained for.  There were a couple of abandoned buildings that we noticed the last time we were down there and we wondered what opportunities might await us in a couple of them….  The one we picked was a gold mine of graffiti, debris, and general urban decay.  We could have stayed there all day!!!  And there were several other photographers crawling all over the place too – no wonder.

Here’s a little Facebook Live broadcast we did until I lost my signal….

As another little added bonus since we had no signal deep in this building, I included our snap story from the day – you can add us on Snapchat here!  Snap us back!

And we’ll leave you with one of the photos from the burned out building….

Cady

Just so awesome….  Cady looked amazing and we had so much fun discovering new spots – we could have stayed in Detroit all day!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from our day!

Caroline In The City For Her Awesome Senior Session In The D!

Okay that title was just too easy!  When your senior is Caroline and you head to Detroit City for her senior session, then a TV show with the same name provides convenient inspiration.  Detroit sessions are proving to be epic and this one was no exception complete with a trip to Polish Village in Hamtramck for dinner afterwards with Caroline and her parents!  But before we get to that let’s talk about Caroline for a sec…  Another friend of our Lacey’s, we’ve known her for a few years now so this was a lot of fun (Lacey even came along).  She’s a North Farmington Raider just like us, a total sweetheart, and she looked amazing for her session!

Awesomeness in the studio…

Before we headed downtown we started out in the studio to get a few photos here including a few on the red couch with the red paper background like this one:

Caroline

Beautiful!  And love the color coordination with the flowers…

Now before we head to Detroit for a few more shots let’s take a look at some of the behind the scenes action from our day!  First we have the Periscope replay from the studio during the above setup with the red couch.  If you haven’t followed us yet on Periscope you can see the broadcasts on twitter or join the broadcasts in the app on your smart phone at this link.

Next we have our 6 second Vine from Belle Isle and Eastern Market in Detroit for your looping pleasure:

Caroline In The City

Our first stop was Belle Isle which is a fantastic location especially since it became a state park.  This spot provides a nice vista to get a little of the Detroit skyline in the background…

Caroline

Here’s the broadcast we did from Belle Isle by the fountain:

Next we headed over to Eastern Market where there are a ton of amazing murals on the walls – many of them commissioned and quite stunning, and that’s where we captured this close up:

Caroline

Caroline was definitely in the zone at this point and we were having a blast!  Love the colors and her top definitely brings out her eyes here…

Here’s our last broadcast from the day in the Eastern Market area – so cool…

We ended up in the new section of the Dequindre Cut which we had never been to – I thought it would be cool to get a panorama of my own of the scene with my iPhone…

Caroline

And here is one of the photos from this scene that we LOVE.  Caroline looks fantastic!

CarolineSo there you have it!  Caroline in the city and bringing her A-game for an awesome senior session in the D!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from our day!

Sal Was Smashing On His Birthday! It’s How He Looked And What He Did!

Sal is a smashing young lad to be sure.  We were excited to get this call since we have photographed many members of Sal’s family before including his two older siblings, but this was our first time photographing Sal.  And….we got to do it ON his first birthday!  What an honor to be able to spend some time with someone on their very first birthday!!!  That’s about as good as it gets.  We photograph plenty of first birthday sessions but they aren’t always on the day of their birthday so this was very cool.  Oh – and yes there is a cake smash – an epic one at that which we’ll save until the end…  🙂

Sal Looked Smashing…

We started on location and Sal arrived displaying a real sense of fashion!  The kid looked fantastic!  Haha…  We went to one of our favorite spots and started on the bridge and Sal turned it on immediately!  Check him out:

Smashing

How awesome is he?  And the vest rocks.

It was hot out but Sal was a champ and we got a few more photos before we headed back to the studio to cool down…  Here’s one more…

Smashing

Before we head back to the studio let’s take a look at our behind the scenes action shall we?  First we have our fun 6 second vine for your looping pleasure:

Now we have our extended replays of our live Periscope broadcasts from the day on our YouTube channel which are a ton of fun – and here is where you’ll see the real smashing come into play!!!  Lol…

Sal Was Smashing…

Now it was time for the real smashing – a cake smash!!!!  But before we let Sal “take the cake” we had to get a couple of him just being his awesome self – like this one:

Smashing

And now for the smash!  I think he enjoyed this….

Smashing

And there you have it!  A smashing session indeed!  We hope you enjoyed these highlights of our day with Sal!

A Is For Abby And The “A” Game She Brought To Her Senior Session!

A is for awesome, astounding, admirable, amazing and it’s also for Abby and the A game she brought to her senior session which had a little of all of those aforementioned and appropriate words when describing the results.  Haha – see what I did there?  The whole relationship started off in hilarious fashion when Abby and her mom Sharon walked into the studio for the first time and busted us doing our zany “Sir Doug & Lady Ally” Periscope act and it turns out they just fit right in!  Both of them are cute funny and snarky and we had an amazing time together on Abby’s session!

Hi Abby…

So let’s say hello to our beautiful senior….  We started out in the studio and we’ll highlight one photo on the brown background:

"A" Game

“A” also stands for adorable….  🙂

Before we head out to the location photos let’s take a look at the behind the scenes action from our day as we like to do.  First we have our vine for your 6 second looping pleasure and I really love this snippet since it captures much of the story with Abby’s sweet personality!

Next we have the extended replays of the live Periscope broadcasts from our YouTube channel we did which are plenty of fun!  You can download the app and follow us on Periscope at @FrameableFaces at this link.

Abby Brings Her “A” Game!

Keep in mind that Abby is a North Farmington Raider (just like us) and we only expect greatness from Raiders so we weren’t surprised at what a pro she was…  She killed it – take a look:

"A" Game

Fantastic…

Our conditions were perfect for this shoot – a little hot maybe but not unbearable.  And we had some nice breezes here and there out on the dock for the series that produced this winner…

"A" Game

We’ll leave you with this last one in front of the Quarton Lake waterfall in Birmingham which serves as a nice background…

"A" Game

Beautiful!!!  And there it is – Abby’s “A” game and an amazing session.  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

The Great Gabby Makes Her Return With Her Senior Session!

You know when the great Gabby makes her return you’ll be in for some, well…greatness!  Hehe…  But seriously – the fact of the matter is we have now photographed Gabby 4 times!  First as the little sister in her sister Rachel’s senior session a couple years back, as a spokesmodel for us for the class of 2016, again for the spokesmodel mural currently in our window and now for her senior session which we present highlights of to you now!

Great Gabby Makes Her Return…

We started out here in the studio and we kept it pretty simple.  Just the black and the white backgrounds.  We’ll share one on the black here…  just a great representation of Gabby being her cute smiley self:

Great Gabby Makes Her Return

From there we’re going to head to the location photos since that was more of the focus of this session, and for the outdoor shots we went to Heritage Park in Farmington Hills which has a ton of variety to work with…  Before we look at the photos though here’s our behind the scenes fun from our day – first with our 6 second Vine for your looping pleasure:

Next we have the replays of our Periscope broadcasts from the day – in this case we have the video without the comments scrolling on the screen but you’ll get the idea, and we love that Gabby’s mom Lisa makes an appearance and it’s really fun towards the end when the two sisters take over the broadcast for a few minutes!  You can download Periscope and follow us at @FrameableFaces at this link:

Now let’s get to the rest of the photos!

First we have this fun photo of Gabby on the back of a trailer – we used a tractor, a trailer…. we had a good laugh and this photo is awesome!

Great Gabby Makes Her Return

Next we have a close up and more thoughtful pose of Gabby and something about it just really shows off her beauty…

Great Gabby Makes Her Return

Lastly a pop of color from some nearby flowers help to make this photo a gem!

Great Gabby Makes Her Return

And there you have it!  We had a blast with Gabby and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of her session!
