A Calm, Cool & Confident Senior – Joseph Is No Joke!

Not that he would be anyway for any reason, but no – Joseph is no joke!  The guy called and scheduled his senior session himself – he came in earlier in the school year to do his yearbook headshot just under the deadline and we planned out the rest together.  So right off the bat he showed some responsibility that not all high school seniors display.  Plus he’s just a soft spoken but plenty cool and confident dude and we enjoyed hanging out with him a lot.

Calm, Cool & Confident – no joke…

We started out in the studio and went with the blue / grey background which we really like.  Here’s an up close and personal shot of our guy in a snappy casual look:

No Joke

Now just because Joseph handled the plans for this session doesn’t mean that his mom Eleanor wasn’t involved – she came on the session and she got into a couple shots!  She’s a sweetheart and here’s a nice one of senior and mom together!

No Joke

How cute are they?

Okay now it was time to head outside for some location photos at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills, and we did a little behind the scenes on Facebook Live while we were there…

It was a little chilly but the lighting was fine and we got a couple of great photos…  First on the rocks – and we’re digging the pink shirt!

No Joke

We’ll leave you with one more against the picket fence – you can see the confidence with this young man!

No Joke

And there you have it – Joseph is certainly no joke and we were glad to have him at our studio!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with him and Eleanor!

Cami Was CAMI-RA Ready In An Epic Senior Session in Detroit!

Cami was certainly “CAMI-RA ready” for her senior session takeover of Detroit!  We’re very punny here at Frameable Faces.  This was an epic session not like any before it and you’ll see why in a bit.  Meanwhile let’s talk about Cami.  We’ve known this girl for a long time and we actually photographed her brother Kyle for his senior pictures, but our relationship with Cami goes way back before that when a party favor from a Cami birthday party in the form of a music CD mix became the standard in the Cohen mini van for a good chunk of our kids childhoods!  The “Cami Disc” was awesome!  We still talk about it from over a decade ago…  We’ve known Cami since she was 3 and she and our Lacey were in dance class together at Studio A the year it opened, so this girl has always had a special place in our hearts.  She’s got it together too – she plans to be a nurse!  We really had an amazing day with her and her mom Bonnie!

Cami was CAMI-RA Ready…

We started in the studio for a couple of quick photos with the plan to spend the majority of our time downtown.  Here’s one on the black background before we head out on location…

Cami

Definitely Cami-Ra ready!  She looks fantastic!

Of course we have plenty of behind the scenes fun and here is the replay of the first Facebook Live broadcast from the studio!

Heading to Detroit!

At this point we packed up and headed downtown for what was supposed to be a trip to Belle Isle and then maybe Eastern Market for some murals and whatever else we might find… well that didn’t happen.  Okay well Belle Isle happened – and we love this red bridge there!

Cami

Beautiful!  The lighting was great even if it was a little chilly…

Meanwhile there would be no Eastern Market for us on this day…  Instead Ally had seen one of our clients post a few pics of an old theater downtown that is now a parking garage – the Michigan Building.  It’s like a post-apocalyptic scene in there and Ally thought this would be a cool spot – Cami was sold immediately so we went down there, and WOW.  Ally’s jaw hit the floor when we walked in – so cool!

Here’s the behind the scenes broadcast from Periscope.  You can follow us there at @FrameableFaces at this link or see our broadcasts on Twitter here

Here’s one of our results from the theater…

Cami

The first shot of its kind for us but certainly not the last…

We were enamored enough with the place that we broadcasted once more on Facebook Live where you’ll see how we improvised with our minivan headlights (shout out to Bonnie for working the lighting from the cockpit lol) as we started to lose some light and the last shot we’ll leave you with came out really cool…

And here is one of the photos from that setup:

Cami

Love it!!!  Yes Cami was Cami-ra ready and we were ready to make some magic which we did on her pioneering session!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day, and we’ll leave you with the Snapchat story from the day complete with the squad selfie at the end!

Charity Channels Her Inner Charm For Her Champion Senior Session!

Inner charm, outer beauty, inner beauty, outer charm – all of it – Charity channels it!  Charity is another North Farmington Raider which is always a bonus for us as fellow Raider alums and we had a fantastic session with her!  Charity had to be a champ because it was chilly out – really chilly (how many words can Doug squeeze into this blog post that begin with “ch”?).  But she stuck it out and delivered some pure awesomeness in Pontiac for some city shots before we made it back to the warm confines of the studio…  Let’s get to it!

Charity Channels Her Inner Charm…

Charity is a sweetie and a dancer too so she’s got a lot going for her.  Her mom Caren joined us as we headed out on location.  First we have this photo on the fire escape…

Charity Channels

Love this because her outfit blends right in with the colors around her for one thing, and she just looks happy and great all the way around.  We actually have plenty of behind the scenes to share as well, and we’ll start with the replay of the Periscope live broadcast.  You can download the app and be part of the fun at @FrameableFaces at this link or you can also just watch from twitter here.

I have to mention that there is an amazing moment on this broadcast where Caren got very emotional watching her girl have her senior pictures taken and like a reporter I took a risk and ran over to catch it and ask her how she was doing – it was a good cry and so sweet!  Caren was great sport about it too!

Awww…..

At this point we relocated for a wardrobe change to another spot on a different set of steps and had some great backlight going for this one.

Charity Channels

That lighting and that smile!

You would never know we were pretty cold by the results…. and at this point it was time to get back to the studio.

First we have a close up of our girl on the red paper backdrop which is one of our faves for sure.

Charity Channels

We also have more behind the scenes fun this time from the replay of our Facebook Live broadcast!

Here’s a dramatic black and white version of our “black and blowy” setup that we are in love with…

Charity Channels

And we’ll end it with the Snapchat story we posted that day – you should be following us there too!  Snap us back!

So there you have it!  When Charity channels her inner charm it comes through with wonderful outer results!  We hope you enjoyed our highlights from our day with her!

Shira Soars Over Detroit City For Her Senior Pictures!

“Shira Soars Over Detroit City” definitely tells the story of this senior session!  We’ve actually known Shira for a while because we’ve photographed her siblings and a family portrait that she was in here at the studio a few years back.  But Shira’s session took on a whole new approach from the others because we had access to some space and even a roof high above the city of Detroit!  So cool!  Meanwhile Shira is a sweetheart and she looked so cute for her session!

Shira Soars…

We actually did half of the session downtown in Detroit where her dad met us to get us the access I mentioned, and then we finished up back in the studio, so we’ll highlight a little of both starting with “The D”.

Shira Soars

So cool!

We also have some behind the scenes from up top as well from the replay of our Periscope broadcast – you can follow us there at @FrameableFaces at this link, or if you want to just follow on Twitter and watch there you can do that too!

Next we headed up to the roof where we captured this one of Shira – “soaring” above Detroit!

Shira Soars

Love it!

At this point it was time to head back to the studio where we got some great shots on the grey paper background with a couple wardrobe changes…

Shira Soars

How adorable is she?

We’ll leave you with one more…

Shira Soars

And there you have it!  A great day in the city and the studio with Shira for sure.  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

We Are Loving Lacey And We Couldn’t Be More Proud!

This isn’t the first time I’ve written about our daughter Lacey on this blog.  She represented our studio this year as a senior spokesmodel and we already did one epic session with her in downtown Detroit.  This time around it’s her senior session and it’s a good thing I’m writing this post because if Ally tried she’d probably be an emotional mess.  It goes fast – really fast, and here we are – it’s been 17 and a half years that we’ve been loving Lacey and we couldn’t be more proud!

Loving Lacey…

So for this session we had a connection that gave us a green light to photograph at Cranbrook where we are not typically allowed to photograph so we took advantage of it.  It was a great day!  We even had our would-be-intern Brittney with us even though she’s leaving us to move to Colorado… (we’re so bummed) but not before she documented our day with Lacey in a unique way which we hope to share soon, so stay tuned…

Meanwhile we started in the studio to do a few shots so let’s look at those first on the grey paper background:

Loving Lacey

That’s our girl!

Of course we have some fun behind the scenes for you first from the replay of the Periscope live stream broadcast.  If you want to be a part of future broadcasts and haven’t downloaded the app yet you can do so and follow us at @FrameableFaces at this link, or if you prefer to just watch from twitter you can do that here.

Here’s one more from the studio of Lacey with a cute red hat!

Loving Lacey

At this point it was time to head out and get some fall colors on this nice crisp November day of which there were some great ones!

This is one of our faves…

Loving Lacey

Here’s another broadcast replay from the location – this time on Facebook Live!

And here we have one more from outside:

Loving Lacey

I’m biased but I do love that smile…  So yes we are loving Lacey and always will be.  Don’t be surprised if there is yet another session (or two) of this girl before her senior year is done.  Ha!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with our girl!

Hair Jordan! As In Her Hair Is Amazing And So Is She!

This blog title wrote itself – it’s impossible to look at a photo of Jordan and not be struck by her amazing hair so I had to do it.  You’ve heard of Air Jordan I’m sure – the brand is supposed to represent excellence right?  So “Hair Jordan” is certainly a good thing!  And the rest of her is pretty awesome too – we were impressed with this girl from the first time she came to the studio for her consultation with her mom Julia.  Just a cool confident teen and we look forward to the heights she’ll scale in the future.

Hair Jordan!  🙂

Meanwhile we are excited to present these photos from the studio and our urban excursion into downtown Pontiac.  This session was killer and Jordan’s mom and little bro both came with!  We started out in the studio so let’s take a look at a couple of those:

Hair Jordan

Okay – loving it all – Jordan’s skin tone and hair with the red couch against the red background?  Amazing!

We also have some fun behind the scenes of the session for you starting with the replay of our live Periscope broadcast from the studio where we were making the above photo.  If you don’t have the app yet you can download it and follow us at @FrameableFaces at this link or if you just want to watch from Twitter you can do that here.

Okay one more from the studio with a wardrobe and background change to the black fabric…

Hair Jordan

Fantastic…

At this point we headed to Pontiac to get some city photos – half painted walls, underneath parking garages – we love this stuff….

Hair Jordan

Here is a little more behind the scenes action – this time from Pontiac on Facebook Live!

And one more from the city!  I actually spotted this wall.  We’ve really closed this fall out strong with our seniors from the standpoint of finding bunches of new spots!  We had never seen this wall before and it will now be “Jordan’s Wall” because that’s how we roll.

Hair Jordan

Wow – in love with Jordan’s session!!!!  “Hair Jordan” indeed!  That’s all we have for now – we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

A Perfect Day Of Surreal Proportions For Jeremy’s Senior Session!

Our day with Jeremy was one of those days when planets seem to align in ways that don’t seem remotely realistic on a number of levels…  Just a perfect day of surreal proportions!  It starts with Jeremy’s mom Karen – and this is not meant to embarrass her at all, in fact it’s just really cute.  Karen wasn’t sure Jeremy would really be into doing a fun and involved senior session, and she wasn’t sure she would be invited if he agreed to it.  Now keep in mind – this is not out of the ordinary and has nothing to do with whether Jeremy is a great kid (he is) and whether or not the two of them have a good relationship (they do), it’s just that some seniors (and especially senior guys) are more excited for this than others, and not all parents come to senior sessions.  It’s probably about 60-40 that they do.  Some moms know they’ll hover too much and affect the session, some teenagers are just, well, teenagers.  Lots of factors involved.  There’s no doubt that Karen wanted to be there though – she just didn’t want Jeremy to feel obligated to have her and wasn’t sure how it would go.  So there’s part of the backdrop to the story…

A Perfect Day Of Surreal Proportions

So Karen planned not to come.  The session was scheduled for November 1st from 3-6 in Detroit – Jeremy and his family are all about Detroit and the comeback the city has been on (as are we) so they thought that would be great to head down there.  Karen was at the mall grabbing lunch the day of his session when Jeremy called her just to check in and he said “you’re coming on the session right?”   Karen was pretty psyched to get that question and it was just luck (no really) that she was here and available to pop over to the studio and come downtown with us.  Planets aligning…

To the D

We went to Belle Isle first and explored a bit – here’s a photo from there…

Surreal Proportions

Oddly enough as you can see the colors were not totally turned on Belle Isle yet even though it was already November, and while we’re on that topic, late September and most of October were unseasonably warm this year which is why the color change started much later than usual.  We figured for sure the cold was finally on its way for real when the temperatures averaged 53 for the previous 7 days before Jeremy’s session.  Well Jeremy’s day was 74 degrees!!!  It’s not supposed to be 74 degrees in Detroit on November 1st.  Planets aligning…

Here is some fun behind the scenes from our day starting with a replay of one of our live broadcasts on Periscope!  You can be a part of our future shows by downloading the app and following us at @FrameableFaces at this link or you can just watch from Twitter here.

Next we headed over to Eastern Market to get some photos with some of the many amazing murals in and around the area…

Surreal Proportions

Soooo cool… what a stud!

Here’s a little more behind the scenes from the Eastern Market area where you can see the full expanse of the above mural this time from Facebook Live

…and here’s one more mural shot.

Surreal Proportions

Digging the way the jacket blends into the paint here…

At this point it was time for the coup de grace.  We headed over to the Detroit Riverwalk to get a few photos which we have never actually done before and we had never been to this part of the Riverwalk but it certainly won’t be our last time there.  The whole scene was surreal – a November evening in Detroit with everyone in shorts on what felt like a perfect summer evening.  As the sun was going down the temperature held above 70 and the sunset was AMAZING with the Detoit River and the Ambassador Bridge in the background.  Planets aligning yet again…

We ended up going with a little off camera flash for this last photo we’ll share – you can get a feel for the scene in this last broadcast from Periscope – most of this broadcast is of the amazing sunset while we took a little break but it’s worth a look:

And here is the last one as the sun was about to vanish on the horizon – and while it is a finished image, Ally did not mess with the color – that sunset sky is #NoFilter!

Surreal Proportions

A perfect day – as it was finishing up we just kind of reveled in the satisfaction of an amazing session and the crazy way in which it all came together!  Karen was thrilled to be a part of it, so were we, and Jeremy nailed it!  A perfect day of surreal proportions and we hope you enjoyed the highlights!

Pure Hannah, Pure Michigan Fall Colors, Pure Awesome!

Yes this was a purely great session – some Pure Michigan Fall colors, plenty of pure awesome and pure Hannah – the latest Frameable Class of 2017 senior!  Now we actually did a combination of photos in the studio which are great for any season as well as some on location and we found one perfect brilliant red and orange fall tree that we’ll get to in a bit…

Pure Hannah

Meanwhile Hannah is a sweetheart and a friend of our daughter Lacey so we knew this would be a great session and it certainly was!  Hannah’s mom Shari joined us and she and Ally have known each other forever so we had plenty of fun!  Let’s start in the studio on the black background…

Pure Hannah

Beautiful!

We also have some behind the scenes fun here – first with the replay of our live Periscope broadcast from the studio and you can join us and be a part of future broadcasts by downloading the app and following us at @FrameableFaces at this link, or you can just watch from Twitter here.

Moving on to our next studio setup for one more before we head outside:

Pure Hannah

Love that background with the ripped jeans!

Now it’s time to head outside!  First on the West Bloomfield Trail Network where we were able to find a really pretty red and orange tree – here’s the broadcast from this portion of the session this time from Facebook Live:

And here’s the result!

Pure Hannah

How great is that?  Love the maroon to go with the reds and oranges too!  We explored a little and went over to a nearby nature preserve as well where we did one more broadcast on Periscope:

And here is the final sneak peek for now – fittingly a photo of just pure Hannah!

Pure Hannah

And there you have it!  Pure Michigan, Pure Hannah, Pure Awesome!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day!

Bruw-ing A Stellar Senior Session With Max-imum Results!

So of course this title is a play on words right?  Well it’s because this stellar senior session features Max and he’s been here in the studio before….with his coffee beans and his cold BRUW filter which is his very own company!  This enterprising young entrepreneur is getting it done and you can check out his website along with a few photos by US at www.bruw.net!

Stellar Senior Session…

But here we need to get to the task at hand and that’s the highlights from Max’s stellar senior session!  Max’s mom Susan accompanied us and even his dad Dave came by for a bit on location!  We started out in the studio so let’s begin there with a formal shot of our guy on the grey paper background:

Stellar Senior Session

Niiiiice!

We also have some behind the scenes fun for you first with the replay of our live Periscope broadcast in the studio.  If you want to be a part of our shows there you can download the app and tune in at @FrameableFaces at this link, and if you just want to watch from twitter you can do that here.

Now it’s time to head outside where…

Fall colors were a-BRUW-in’

Yes they were!  Plenty of great spots to shoot right in and around West Bloomfield and that’s just where we stayed!  The first shot features more brick than oranges or reds but it’s cool!  Just Max chillin’

Stellar Senior Session

The next photo is a bit unique in that we don’t think we’ve used this chair on location before – it’s a neat photo with some of that “Pure Michigan” color in the background!  Here’s the behind the scenes of the shot from Facebook Live

…and the result!

Stellar Senior Session

Pretty nice!

One more Periscope replay for good measure (we were having a lot of fun)….  lol!

And one last photo of Max – and just as the rain started to fall too…. good timing!

Stellar Senior Session

And there it is!  We BRUWed a stellar senior session with Max for sure, and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with him!

Oh My Maya! Yasss This Senior Session Was Quite Memorable!

Oh my Maya!  That’s what these photos will make you want to say out loud since Maya killed it on her senior session!  You may remember Maya’s spokesmodel session in Detroit from earlier this year since she represented our studio for the class of 2017, and we love when our spokesmodels return for their senior session!  You see, the spokesmodel session is kind of “our session” to try out new spots, backdrops, styles and trends, while the senior session is “their session” to do whatever they want!  In Maya’s case the plan was to get more of a fall session so we headed outside in October to do just that.

Oh My Maya!

Maya’s mom Julie joined us and we had a great time, but before we head out on location let’s take a look at a studio photo on the black background with Maya sporting her figure skating gear!  Very nice!

Oh My Maya

We also have some behind the scenes action for you from the day, first with a broadcast replay from the studio on Periscope – if you want to be a part of our shows there you can download the app and follow us at @FrameableFaces at this link, or if you just want to watch from Twitter you can do that as well here.

Now let’s head out to see the location shots, starting with this secluded bridge at Heritage Park where we spent our time…

Oh My Maya

Gorgeous – the colors, the backlight, the senior!  🙂

Here’s another one at a different spot:

Oh My Maya

Conditions were just perfect and Maya looks fabulous!  Let’s take a look at some more behind the scenes this time from Facebook Live!

We’ll leave you with one more…

Oh My Maya

So cute!  And there you have it – oh my Maya!!!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from our day with her!
