An amazing grand finale with @rachel_v_h!!! 💗 #SeniorPictures #ClassOf2021 #MetroDetroit
Giulianna is one of our peeps – a spokesmodel for the class of 2021 and we had a fabulous session with her in Detroit back in June, so we were pumped to have her back for another round for her senior pictures! Yep – this is Juju part two – back to Detroit for more!!! Once again her delightful mom Barb came with and we had a blast, so let’s get to some highights!
Yes this photo is in downtown Detroit! And it’s awesome:
Gorgeous – love the little footbridge and we have some behind the scenes fun from this one on Facebook:
Here’s another one with some beautiful flowers as a backdrop!
Okay – just stunning!!!! And this is a good spot to shout out Mary Qarana (a former Frameable Faces senior herself) for Juju’s makeup – just a brilliant job!
We headed over to Eastern Market for some murals too…
What a perfect day we had…. Here’s some more behind the scenes fun this time from Instagram:
Sammy is a ray of sunshine – so much personality and a real delight to photograph, and what’s more is the very cool connection I (Doug) have with her family! They bought the house I grew up in from my parents years ago! They don’t live there anymore but we shared the same “view of the world” literally for a time and that will always connect us. Sammy’s parents Jen & Bert are great and they even joined for part of the session with the family pups! Sammy is a Bloomfield Hills Blackhawk just like our kids were so that’s even another reason to like her! Hehe… so enough gushing – let’s let the pics do the talking!
We actually started in the studio with Sammy and the fam….and the fan! Let’s highlight one of the black and blowy pics first:
LOVE.
We also have some fun behind the scenes action first from Facebook:
At this point it was time to head out on location to Birmingham for that summer in the sun fun we talked about…
Just gorgeous! And we have behind the scenes from this photo too – this time from Instagram:
And then there’s this one with the fabulous backlight…
Just stunning… Good spot here to shout out Caroline at Mandy Rose for the makeup as well!
We’ll leave you with this one:
And there you have it! Summer in the sun with Sammy was a session to remember and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!
Yes we made magic with Micole in Detroit – senior picture magic! Micole is a rising senior in the class of 2021 at Bloomfield Hills High School, and we LOVE our Blackhawks since our own kids were Blackhawks! Part of what made this session special was that Micole’s whole fam joined us – parents Sarah and Todd and little brother Ari – and it was pretty cool to have everyone there to join in and celebrate this girl. She’s smart and adorable and we really enjoyed spending the day with her! So let’s get to some highlights!
We actually started with a few pics in the studio so let’s highlight one of those first:
Love the ripped denim and the tie dye! We also have some fun behind the scenes from the day first from Instagram Live:
At this point it was time to head downtown and we had a great day for it! We hit Belle Isle first…
Gotta love when the fountain is on!
Here’s a closeup on one of our favorite bridges there:
Okay she is stunning…
After hanging on the island for a while we finished up over by Eastern Market, and we have a little more behind the scenes fun this time from Facebook:
….and the result!
Magic with Micole indeed! And there you have it! We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!
We were also excited to get back down to Detroit for some photos. We hadn’t been down there for a session since before the stay at home orders and we love being there. Detroit sessions have been really popular the last several years (there’s a slight additional charge of $75 for the time and travel required for a Detroit session).
We started on Belle Isle and even though the fountain wasn’t on we thought it made for a nice backdrop!
LOVE! We had a perfect day too…
Here’s another on Belle Isle:
At this point we headed over to Eastern Market and we have some fun behind the scenes for you here from Facebook!

You can see in the TikTok above the natural lighting that comes through the windows that we used for this next one we’ll leave you with:
And there you have it – JuJu with the good juju! We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her and all the photos of our wonderful class of 2021 spokesmodel crew! So excited to photograph this rising senior class!
Just being able to write “Leah Leads Us Back To Action” is a joy for so many reasons! For starters this was our first photo session in months after being home to flatten the curve of the pandemic, so just getting out and being back at it doing what we love was exhilarating. But to be with Leah and her mom Emma made it even better because we’re friends and have been for many years. So to have that interaction for the first time and to do it with people we already know and care about was sustenance for the soul! Leah is representing the Bloomfield Hills Blackhawks for the class of 2021 and when you add in the fact that she brought her “A game” and SLAYED – well that’s just the icing on the cake…. Let’s get to some highlights!
We decided to go edgy and head to Pontiac, masks and all! We like to photograph in Pontiac from time to time for a little urban vibe.
Love. The. Shoes. And the gorgeous girl wearing them.
We also have some fun behind the scenes action for you first from our Facebook Livestream:
Leah had a few outfit changes so next up we have a lyrical costume with pointe shoes – this next setup is amazing:
Just so cool – the costume matching the rail, Leah on pointe – just the whole thing…. wow.
Moving around downtown Pontiac we discovered a little spot we either hadn’t noticed before or was newly painted since last fall:
Such a fun wall and Leah has that little smize going! Here’s some more behind the scenes this time embedded straight from Instagram TV!
The final shots just happened impromptu as Leah jumped up on a barrel and flashed the peace sign – with the shades on – just a great way to sum up how we were feeling that day! Love this girl.
And there you have it! Yep – Leah led us back to action which felt so good and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!
We were sitting and talking with one of our high school seniors and her mom yesterday and it was a conversation I really enjoyed – one that got me thinking about our seniors and why their sessions are so special.
We have had parents thank us before for “making it such a great experience” for their senior and “really capturing them” or “making them feel so special”. Yes – we are really good at what we do. Ally is an awesome photographer and she connects with people really well.
But here’s the thing, and I said this yesterday in what was a similar conversation to many we’ve had with comments like the ones above:
Often the case is that we made someone’s daughter or son feel good NOT just because we said lots of things, complimented them and focused on them, but because the senior kicked butt. At the end of the day the senior gets credit too. It’s the senior who has to prep, dress, smile, pose – for hours! It’s the senior who projects the confidence and the personality.
Take the girl who was here yesterday with her mom to place their order. Did we have something to do with her having such an amazing session? Well sure we did. We meet with each senior ahead of time to get to know them. We want to get a sense of what their style is, their personality – and we empower them to be involved in planning their session. We know what questions to ask, we know tons of great locations, we have a great studio with perfect lighting, fantastic backdrops and really cool vintage furniture. We’ve been at this a long time and it’s our livelihood, but we want them to know this is about them. So yes this approach breaks down barriers and paves the way for a better session. It’s really important, and once we’ve done it the senior can own their part.
It’s truly a collaboration. No different than a coach and an athlete, a conductor and a classical musician. The girl who was here yesterday really rose to the occasion. SHE was what made it special. She looked great! You could see the fun she was having and the confidence on her face in the photos. Ally laughs at how I always say the senior is “killing it” or “slaying the game” haha… But that’s not B.S. – it’s true! And with yesterday’s senior everyone brought their A game, everyone feels like we really accomplished something great together, and now we’re friends. We can’t imagine the tedium of doing it any other way for something that can and should be so special and our clients come here because that’s what they want.
So yes, we love what we do and we’re good at it, but it’s the team – us, the parents and the SENIORS that make senior pictures at Frameable Faces so special!
Photographing kids can be so much fun, and when three siblings come to the studio who are so fun, smart and well behaved like these three? Well that just makes it even better. Definitely three of the cutest sibs we’ve had at the studio, so let’s take a look!
We’ll start with the three of them together…
And then we’ll give each one of them their own turn in the spotlight! First big sis:
LOVE THE BERET!!!
Next the big man:
And now baby sis!!!
CUTENESS OVERLOAD.
We LOVED our time with these three – they were a delight! We hope you enjoyed these portraits!
We got marvelous with Marlee because she IS. She’s a legacy twice over here at Frameable Faces with both of her big bros coming here for their senior pics and we are big fans of the fam! Meanwhile Marlee is adorable, smart and snarky so she fits in pretty well here! Marlee’s mom Gayle joined us for a fine day here at the studio and on location in the WB for some, well, MAHHHVELOUS pics with Marlee!!!
We started on location for this one with Orchard Lake in the background…
LOVE IT.
Also you know how we roll – here’s the fun behind the scenes from the above photo from Facebook LIVE:
We hit a couple more spots around town including this meadow, and while we’re at it we need to shout out Farah at Mandy Rose Studio for hair and makeup – she did a great job with Marlee!
Beautiful.
And one more outside, and you can see a little of that Fall color coming in as we get up close with our girl…
At this point we headed back to the studio for a little glam on the black, and we have some more behind the scenes fun this time from Instagram:
And the MARVELOUS result:
A stunner to finish with!
We were getting marvelous with Marlee indeed – the end of an era with these guys and maybe they saved the best for last (?). LOL – we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day!
Enter Elijah – a class of 2020 Bloomfield Hills Blackhawk and the subject of this outstanding senior picture session! Elijah is a sharp young man and we had a lot of fun on his session with him and his mom Amy! We connected with them right away and we have so many mutuals with Amy it’s a surprise we didn’t know each other before, but here we are – better late than never! We had a great day and let’s get to a few highlights!
We started in the studio for a nice formal series on the black background – here’s one:
Dapper dude!
We also have some behind the scenes fun from the day – first on Instagram:
At this point we headed to Birmingham and we had great conditions:
Love that one – and we even have a feathered friend in the background lol…
Here’s another one from Quarton Lake:
We also went into downtown Birmingham for a couple city looks – here’s the behind the scenes from Facebook:
And we’ll leave you with this one with the lamp post:
So cool! A little haze, a little pop of fall color in the background – great one to end on!
A killer session indeed and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with Elijah!
